UPDATE: Pedestrian Accident on I-805
SAN DIEGO, CA – Police officers have released new information about the pedestrian who was hit by a car on Wednesday, April 29. The accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Interstate 805, near South 43rd Street, when a pedestrian ran into highway traffic. A driver in a Dodge Challenger was unable to stop their vehicle before hitting the pedestrian.
Police now believe the pedestrian was a homeless man, but they have not released any identifying information, according to the Times of San Diego. The man sustained life-threatening injuries, and police state that the man’s leg may have been severed in the crash. A San Diego police officer pronounced the pedestrian dead on the scene.
Police closed the HOV lane and two other highway lanes for three hours, to investigate the accident. The driver who hit the pedestrian remained at the scene and assisted the police in their investigation.
