Police Pursued DUI Suspect on I-5
CHULA VISTA, CA – Police officers chased an intoxicated man driving a Dodge Challenger, who refused to pull over during a traffic stop on Wednesday, April 29. The 25-year-old driver, Deandre Deonte Brown, was driving recklessly when police attempted to pull him over on Interstate 5 near Main Street. Officers suspected the driver had been drinking while driving, which may have caused his erratic behavior on the road.
According to Fox 5 San Diego, the police chase started at 10:30 a.m. on I-5, but the driver led the police to Route 54 and Interstate 805 during the 30-minute pursuit. Once Brown exited the highway, he abandoned his vehicle and started running near Melrose Avenue. Police officers found Brown hiding in a backyard, where they arrested him and took him to jail.
A 22-year-old man was in the vehicle with Brown when the chase started, and he stayed in the car during Brown’s arrest. Police detained and questioned this man, but they released him shortly after. Brown is facing multiple charges for his actions, including evading arrest, a DUI, and driving without a license.
