Intoxicated Driver Crashes on Broadway Pier
SAN DIEGO, CA – Fox 5 San Diego reports that an intoxicated man drove through the security gates at Broadway Pier and then crashed his vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 3. When the driver left the pier, he crashed into a parked Jeep Cherokee and then into a home near 3500 Fifth Avenue.
The owner of the house, Christian Berger, was at home when the crash occurred, but he was not injured. Berger states that the driver got out of his vehicle after the crash and started to run away, as Berger was calling the police. Berger told police officers that the driver seemed extremely intoxicated as he left the vehicle.
The San Diego Police Department found the driver a short distance from the scene of the accident. They arrested the driver on DUI charges and three hit-and-run accidents. Police officers have not released any identifying information about the driver at this time.
