Hit-and-run driver injures pedestrian
CITY HEIGHTS, CA – A 56-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after he was hit by a driver at the intersection of Copland Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard Tuesday evening.
The pedestrian was crossing the intersection at a crosswalk around 7:00 p.m. on May 5, when a driver ran a red light and crashed into him. The driver left the scene of the accident and drove west toward Interstate 15, according to NBC 7 San Diego.
Officials transported the man to the hospital with severe injuries. They believe the pedestrian has a punctured lung, bleeding in the brain, and broken ribs. There is no additional information about the pedestrian’s current condition.
The San Diego Police Department is still searching for the suspect.
