Head-on collision in La Mesa leaves two drivers with life-threatening injuries
SAN DIEGO, CA – 10News reports that a head-on collision on Interstate 8 left two drivers severely injured. The two-car accident occurred around midnight when a Ford SUV ran head-on into a red BMW on eastbound I-8 near 70th Street. Emergency crews arrived to find the Ford SUV on fire.
Both drivers were pulled from the wreckage and transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment. California Highway Patrol reports that both the 28-year-old driver of the SUV and the 45-year-old driver of the BMW suffered life-threatening injuries.
CHP says that they suspect the driver of the SUV to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
