Stake bed truck accident in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – A collision involving a stake bed truck occurred this afternoon in El Cajon, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol. CHP was alerted to the incident at 12:54 p.m. and quickly arrived on scene to State Route 125 and Lemon Grove Way. A white Ford stake bed truck collided with a maroon Ford F-150. It’s unclear which vehicle caused the accident at this time.

Police are reporting that no injuries where sustained in the collision.

Semi-truck fire on Interstate-15

SAN DIEGO, CA – A semi-truck caught fire while driving southbound on Interstate 15 on Tuesday afternoon. According to Caltrans San Diego, the California Highway Patrol responded to the incident at around 3:55 p.m. on I-15 near Rainbow Valley Boulevard. The three rightmost lanes were blocked by the incident. Lanes were closed for about an hour before reopening.

Police have not released details on how the truck caught fire. Our team will monitor the situation and update this story as we learn more.

UPDATE: Two occupants suffer major injuries after jumping out of dump truck

SAN DIEGO, CA – This is an update to an earlier posted story about an overturned dump truck on SR-67.

The driver and a passenger of a 1996 Ford L8000 dump truck suffered major injuries after jumping out of the moving truck yesterday afternoon. The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on a winding stretch of southbound State Route 67 near Slaughterhouse Canyon. The abandoned vehicle continued south until it eventually hit a metal guardrail and overturned into the northbound lanes. No other vehicles were struck by the dump truck.

The details of the occupants’ injuries are unknown at this time, but the pair has been confirmed to be severely injured from the jump. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, police are not sure why the occupants jumped out of a moving vehicle.

Overturned dump truck on SR-67

SAN DIEGO, CA – Caltrans San Diego reports that an overturned dump truck on northbound State Route 67 near Vigilante led to road closures and heavy traffic yesterday evening. Police were alerted to the accident at around 5:52 p.m. and closed both northbound and southbound SR-67 in order to clear the roads.

It is unclear at this time how the dump truck overturned, but it doesn’t seem that any other vehicles were involved in the accident.

At least 1 injured in 18-wheeler rear-end accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle and 18-wheeler collision has occurred this afternoon. The incident was reported at around 1:15 p.m. on Interstate 8 and La Posta Road. A motorist in a small vehicle rear-ended an 18-wheeler and damaged his car. The vehicle’s exact damage is unknown, but it had to be moved off the road as it was blocking traffic.

The driver of the smaller vehicle was severely injured. An ambulance was called to the scene, and emergency responders found that the individual was breathing and only semi-responsive. It’s unclear if the driver in the 18-wheeler was injured.

Semi-truck hit by flying debris in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – A semi-truck has suffered damage to the windshield of their vehicle due to flying debris on northbound Interstate 5 this morning. The incident was reported at 11 a.m. on Interstate 5 and Vista Way. The California Highway Patrol reports that a black, red, and white stake bed truck lost items from the back of the truck. The debris went flying backwards and smashed into the windshield of a semi-truck behind it.

Cleaning crews are currently on the scene, and we recommend motorists avoid the area at this time.

At least 1 injured in El Cajon semi-truck collision

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the California Highway Patrol‘s traffic logs, a collision has occurred this afternoon in El Cajon. A semi-truck and a small, white pickup truck crashed on the intersection of Mac Lane and Bancroft Drive at 12:33 p.m. The circumstances of the accident are unknown at this time.

Police reported that debris from the accident was blocking the lanes.

An ambulance was called to the scene of the crash, but we have no further details on the extent of the injuries. We’ll update you as we learn more.

Semi-Truck on fire in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is reporting of a semi-truck on fire on Interstate-15. The incident was reported at 11:35 a.m. at southbound Interstate 15 and Via Rancho.  Police say a box truck is pulled over on the right hand side of the freeway and that flames are coming from under the truck.

It’s unclear if the driver was injured in the accident. We recommend that motorists avoid that area at this time, and we’ll update you when we know more.

Semi-truck collision in Imperial Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA – Caltrans San Diego reports a semi-truck collision this morning in Imperial Valley. The accident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. at State Route 111 and Eaton Road, completely blocking the right lane. At this time, police have closed all routes and are rerouting traffic through Worthington Road.

Semi-truck crash in Imperial Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA – Reports have come in that a semi-truck has caused a traffic collision on SBSR-111 today at around 11:20 a.m. The incident occurred on the right shoulder of the highway, just north of Davis Road.  At this time, any sustained injuries or additional involved vehicles are unknown.
