Car thief crashes vehicle in Hillcrest area
SAN DIEGO, CA – Police have arrested a 23-year-old man they suspect of committing a violent car theft Wednesday night.
Miguel Garcia Carreon was apprehended Thursday and is being held on $100,000. The victim of the car theft told police that Carreon approached him around 10:55 p.m. Wednesday evening at the 3800 block of Third Avenue. The man had exited his car when he saw Carreon get in on the passenger side; when he attempted to remove the intruder, Carreon assaulted him, then drove off with his vehicle.
According to KUSI, the victim alerted police, who spotted the stolen vehicle a short while later. Police began pursuit in the Hillcrest area, where Carreon crashed the car and then fled on foot. Officers arrested him and placed him in San Diego Central Jail.
