Woman struck and killed by passing car on I-8 in El Cajon
SAN DIEGO, CA – A woman was struck by a passing vehicle while standing outside of her disabled sedan on I-8 in El Cajon on Tuesday morning.
According to the Times of San Diego, a 20-year-old woman was eastbound on I-8 when she lost control of her 2003 Toyota Matrix and crashed near North First Street at about 2:50 a.m. The car landed in the right lane and was undrivable.
The woman got out of her vehicle and was standing near it in the right lane of the three-lane freeway when she and the disabled Toyota were struck by a 2002 Infiniti G35. The collision hurled her into the left lane, where she was hit by two more cars.
She died at the scene.
The driver of the Infiniti, a 24-year-old San Diego resident, was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital. His injuries were significant, but he is expected to recover.
