Woman pulls baby from backseat of burning car on I-805
SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver pulled a small child from the backseat of their vehicle after it caught fire on Interstate 805 early on Thursday afternoon.
According to CHP, a blue Volkswagen sedan had pulled to the righthand side of southbound I-805 at SR-905 and was on fire just after 6 p.m. The driver, a woman, immediately got out of the car and pulled a little baby from the backseat.
Firefighters blocked the onramp while they extinguished the fire. The area was closed for more than thirty minutes.
Thankfully, the woman and baby appeared to have escaped serious injury.
There is no word on how the fire started.
