Traffic News: Hazard in roadway on I-15

SAN DIEGO, CA – A large box of clothes spilled onto the slow lane on I-15 near Aero Street today, threatening a traffic accident.

Numerous cars are swerving around the box and putting other drivers in danger. Officers are heading to the scene to clear the area.

There have not been any reports of car accidents in the area. Officers are clearing the area to ensure that it won’t cause any crashes in the future.

Traffic News: Van stalled on SR 371

TEMECULA, CA – California Highway Patrol received reports of a tan minivan stalled in the northbound lane on SR 371, around 2:46 p.m.

The driver is male and was sitting in the van when CHP made the report. There is no indication that the driver is in distress at this time.

An officer is en route to the location and will report whether the driver will need assistance.

There is no indication of injuries of the driver, but more information will be forthcoming as it is a continuing event.

Fatal car crash reported in Ramona

RAMONA, CA – According to NBC San Diego, two people were killed and a third was airlifted to a local hospital following a two-vehicle accident at Mussey Grade Road south of Mahogany Ranch Road.

Cal Fire San Diego responded to the scene around 12:14 p.m. A medflight was called in to assist because occupants were trapped in the wreckage.

Cal Fire successfully freed one person from the vehicle and sent them a local hospital. Two other passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The condition of the hospitalized individual is currently unknown.

There is no other information at this time. It is unclear how many individuals were involved in the crash.

At least one injured in two-vehicle crash at CA-75 and I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of CA-75 and I-5 this afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reports.

Police say that a red Nissan Rogue collided with a red Ford Escort at approximately 2:37 p.m. It is currently unclear which driver was responsible for the crash.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to Sharp Chula Vista for x-rays. No additional information about their condition is available at this time.

I-15 crash kills one and injures another

SAN DIEGO, CA – A crash on Interstate 15 resulted in the death of one man and the injury of a woman, NBC San Diego reports.

According to Capt. John Choi of North County Fire, a gold Lincoln drove off the interstate and dropped 150 feet near East Mission Road at around 10:41 Sunday morning.

North County Fire rescued the driver, a 67-year-old woman, using a rope system. The Hayward resident was taken to Palomar Medical Center with multiple injuries, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the male passenger died at the scene. He was 68 years old and reportedly was not wearing a seat belt at the time, causing him to partially eject from the vehicle.

CHP officials do not know the cause of the crash and are still investigating the incident.

Woman crashes truck into tree near El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – A single-vehicle accident occurred this afternoon near El Cajon. According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman crashed her white Dodge Ram truck into a tree at around 3:15 p.m. The incident occurred on Wildcat Canyon Road near Bingo Road. At this time, it’s unclear why the woman veered off the roadway and into the tree.

The motorist was not injured in the crash. Police are handling the situation currently.

Three-vehicle crash in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three vehicles were involved in an accident this evening in Oceanside. According to the traffic logs from the California Highway Patrol, a tan truck, a white Chevy, and a silver Toyota Prius collided for unknown reasons at around 5:35 p.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of South Mission Road and Olive Hill Road. All three vehicles were pulled to the right side of the road when police arrived.

The silver Prius sustained serious front-end damage and the airbags deployed. At least one person was injured in the accident, but we have no further information at this time.

Damaged vehicle causes major road hazard on I-805

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is warning motorists of a damaged vehicle on northbound Interstate 805 near the University Avenue off-ramp. According to the report, a grey SUV is pulled on to the lefthand side of the road and is blocking lane #2 of the the off-ramp. The driver of the vehicle told police that the vehicle had overheated around 10:07 a.m. and wouldn’t drive any further.

Police caution drivers in the area to be aware as they come around the curve that a vehicle is parked there. Drivers should proceed with caution in order to avoid an accident. The CHP is currently on the way to handle the situation, and our team will post an update if any accidents are caused by the stopped vehicle.

UPDATE: Road debris near Sea World causes traffic hazard

SAN DIEGO, CA – Our team posted earlier about a ladder in the roadway near Sea World that was causing vehicles to swerve in order to avoid the debris. The California Highway Patrol reports that an accident was caused by the ladder this morning. A vehicle was hit when the ladder fell off a truck traveling southbound on Interstate 5. According to police, a witness caught the incident on video and alerted police to the accident at around 11:40 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the ladder was uninjured in the collision. It’s unclear how much damage the debris caused the vehicle.

Hit-and-run accident in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – A hit-and-run accident occurred this morning in Oceanside. According to traffic reports from the California Highway Patrol, a white Crossover SUV was hit by another vehicle on northbound Interstate 15 and Gopher Canyon Road. Police arrived on the scene at around 11:30 a.m. and found the damaged vehicle parked near the off-road flower stand.

The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision. Details on the suspected vehicle have not been released at this time.
