Truck driver helps police apprehend fleeing motorist

CHULA VISTA, CA – The driver of a semi truck assisted San Diego police officers in capturing a driver who had led them on a two-hour slow-speed chase across the city Thursday, NBC 7 San Diego reports.

The chase in question began at about noon yesterday, when police received reports of an individual brandishing a gun. That person was linked to a minivan, which police spotted a short time later. They attempted to pull over the vehicle, which instead drove off, leading them on a chase across I-805 and various surface roads for the next two hours.

The chase came to an end at 11:45 a.m., when a tractor-trailer pulled in front of the minivan as it pulled out of a parking lot in the 330 block of Moss Street. An undercover police vehicle further blocked the minivan’s path, at which point officers arrested its driver.

That identity of that individual has not been released at this time, and it is unclear what charges they will face.

No one appears to have been injured during the chase.
