Two people seriously injured in high-speed Escondido collision
ESCONDIDO, CA – Two people were seriously hurt in a rollover collision involving a speeding vehicle in Escondido Friday morning, according to the Times-Advocate.
The accident occurred at Valley Parkway and I-15 at about 10:45 a.m. when a white 2019 Lexus IS350 and a black 2001 Mercedes E320 collided and trapped both drivers within the wreckage.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 46-year-old man from Vista, was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed when he went over the median and into the lane of oncoming traffic.
The Mercedes then collided with the Lexus, driven by a 52-year-old woman from Escondido, before rolling over multiple times, catching fire, and trapping both drivers.
The two were extricated from the wreckage, then were taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
The collision remains under investigation at this time.
