Truck driver injured after crash on I-15 in Escondido
SAN DIEGO, CA – A truck driver was injured after crashing into the center barrier and with a pickup on Interstate 15 in Escondido on Monday morning.
According to CHP, the tractor-trailer swerved across the four HOV lanes of I-15 south, struck the center divider, then hit a pickup truck and a truck cab near West Valley Parkway at about 7:40 a.m.
The pickup truck, a Terminix vehicle, began to catch fire and was fully engulfed at about 7:45 a.m. The fire spilled the bug spray that they pickup was carrying all over the HOV lanes but Terminix confirmed that the substance was not hazardous.
An ambulance was called for the driver of the tractor-trailer. Their injuries were considered minor, as were any other injuries sustained in the crash.
At about 9:30 a.m., the HOV lanes were reopened, although traffic was so backed up and no able to flow smoothly until almost 10 a.m.
