According to California Highway Patrol, more than 53 people were killed and around 533 suffered injuries in San Diego pedestrian accidents in the year 2008. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 180,000 pedestrians have been killed in a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident between 1975 and 2005.
Some of the prominent causes of pedestrian accidents include failing to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians, reckless or negligent driving, failure to observe speed limits, and hit-and-run accidents.
Even when using designated sidewalks and observing traffic laws, many pedestrians are seriously injured by negligent drivers on a daily basis. The injuries suffered by pedestrians usually turn out to be fatal. All negligent motorists need to be held accountable for their actions.
In some cases like this, the injured victim is immediately blamed for the accident for riding on the wrong side of the street. This is why it is crucial for the injured victim and his family to get in touch with a pedestrian accident attorney who will carry out a detailed investigation on the accident.
Choosing a professional and experienced attorney will help the injured skateboarder get him the deserved settlement to cover medical expenses as quickly as possible.
