Authorities are investigating the involvement of DUI in an interstate crash in Escondido early Tuesday morning.
A few minutes past midnight, a Lexus SUV with two occupants was traveling north on I-15 when it suddenly veered off the highway. The truck then climbed up an embankment before rolling back down the interstate where it was struck by a passing truck. Both occupants were thrown out of the SUV. The first victim, a 20-year-old female from San Diego, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. The second occupant, a 24-year-old man from Florida, died at the scene after he was struck by a passing Chevrolet Cruze. Authorities are currently investigating the crash and looking at the possibility DUI may have been involved. Updates will be provided as more info is released.
