Tractor-trailer fatally hits woman behind Poway strip mall
SAN DIEGO, CA – An investigation is ongoing after a woman was killed by a tractor-trailer behind a shopping center in Poway on Tuesday morning.
According to local news, the woman was in the delivery access road behind the strip mall in the 13300 block of Poway Road at about 9:30 a.m. when she was struck. The truck dragged the victim a few dozen yards before running over her body.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.
Ongoing investigation efforts have including recreating the scene of the accident.

Identity of sailor killed in military truck crash released
SAN DIEGO, CA – The 26-year-old sailor who died in a military truck accident on Interstate 5 not far from Camp Pendleton on Tuesday morning has been identified.
According to a local news source, the victim was Aaron Fish, who had been stationed at a base in Ventura County.
Fish was driving one of five seven-ton military trucks in a convoy on I-5 south on their way to Camp Pendleton in an equipment transfer. A car slowed down suddenly in front of the convoy, and all five trucks crashed in a chain-reaction. Fish’s truck was smashed between two other military vehicles.
He died at the scene. The other five sailors were hospitalized with various injuries, ranging from minor to severe.
The California Highway Patrol, as well as Navy authorities, are investigating the accident.

Three lanes closed after truck rollover on I-805
SAN DIEGO, CA – According to Caltrans San Diego, three lanes were closed on Interstate 805 after a tractor-trailer overturned on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened in the southbound lanes near Market Street shortly before 11:30 a.m.
The three left-hand lanes were closed due to the toppled truck and traffic was backed up almost as far as State Route 94.

One sailor killed, five injured in truck near Camp Pendleton
SAN DIEGO, CA – A sailor was killed and five others were injured in a chain-reaction accident on I-5 outside of Camp Pendleton on Tuesday morning.
According to Fox News San Diego, five military trucks were in a convoy on southbound I-5 not far from San Onofre Beach when the crash happened at about 7 a.m. The personnel had been traveling from Ventura County, where they were stationed, to Camp Pendleton in an equipment transfer.
A 26-year-old Seabee was killed when the trailer of his seven-ton vehicle slid into the cab. Five other Seabees, all in their 20s, were also injured. One man was seriously hurt, and two more men and two women received minor injuries. They were all hospitalized for treatment.
The accident tied up traffic on southbound I-5 for hours, and backups stretched as far as the Orange County line.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.

Truck accident injuries at least one on I-8 in El Cajon
SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the CHP incident log, a tractor-trailer accident injured at least one person in Interstate 8 in El Cajon on Monday morning.
A tractor-trailer crashed with a Toyota Scion, a black SUV, and a Mercedes in the westbound lanes of I-8 near Ribbonwood Road at about 11:30 a.m. The Scion was spun around and left facing the wrong way in the accident, while the two other cars and the truck came to rest on the righthand side of the road.
At least one person, a woman reported minor injuries in the accident. An ambulance responded to the scene to treat her, as well as any other victims of the accident.
One lane was blocked while the accident was cleared and tow trucks removed the vehicles.

Concrete truck overturns on SR-94 offramp in Spring Valley
SAN DIEGO, CA – A concrete mixer truck overturned on a State Route 94 offramp in Spring Valley on Monday morning, according to CHP.
The driver of the truck was exiting eastbound SR-94 to Spring Street when the vehicle overturned at about 11 a.m.
An initial, unconfirmed, report suggested that the truck driver was trapped inside the cab of the toppled vehicle. An ambulance responded to the scene and treated the driver who had sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities contacted the company that owned the truck to arrange a cleanup of the area as well as extended closure while the scene was cleared

Construction truck involved in I-5 crash in Encinitas
SAN DIEGO, CA – A construction pickup truck was involved in an accident with a sedan on Interstate 5 in Encinitas early on Tuesday morning.
According to CHP, a white Ford F-750 pickup truck crashed with a grey Toyota Prius on I-5 south near Leucadia Boulevard at about 3:50 a.m. The Prius was overturned in the accident and ended up on its roof in the slow lane.
An ambulance was called to the scene. It was confirmed that the driver of the pickup was not injured, however, it is unclear whether or not the Prius’ driver was injured when the sedan overturned.

Minivan and sedan hit debris from truck in Oceanside
SAN DIEGO, CA – Two vehicles hit debris that fell off of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 5 in Oceanside on Monday afternoon, according to CHP.
A black minivan and a black Volkswagen Jetta both ran into the compressor that fell off a red tractor-trailer on I-5 south near Birmingham Drive at about 1:50 p.m.
All three vehicles pulled to the righthand side of the road, including the minivan with a flat tire, while the compressor remained where it had landed in the roadway.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. Freeway Service Patrol personnel cleared the debris from the freeway and damaged vehicles were towed from the scene.

Truck driver injured after crash on I-15 in Escondido
SAN DIEGO, CA – A truck driver was injured after crashing into the center barrier and with a pickup on Interstate 15 in Escondido on Monday morning.
According to CHP, the tractor-trailer swerved across the four HOV lanes of I-15 south, struck the center divider, then hit a pickup truck and a truck cab near West Valley Parkway at about 7:40 a.m.
The pickup truck, a Terminix vehicle, began to catch fire and was fully engulfed at about 7:45 a.m. The fire spilled the bug spray that they pickup was carrying all over the HOV lanes but Terminix confirmed that the substance was not hazardous.
An ambulance was called for the driver of the tractor-trailer. Their injuries were considered minor, as were any other injuries sustained in the crash.
At about 9:30 a.m., the HOV lanes were reopened, although traffic was so backed up and no able to flow smoothly until almost 10 a.m.

Garbage truck catches fire in National City
SAN DIEGO, CA – A garbage truck caught fire on State Route 54 in National City on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck was driving east in the righthand lane near Reo Drive at about 10:15 a.m when it began to catch fire. The driver pulled over to the shoulder, and it was not long before the fire began to spread to the surrounding area.
Two lanes were closed for firefighters and emergency vehicles. The truck fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes and then attention was turned to the rest of the fire.
A crew was also called to pick up debris.
All lanes were reopened at about 11:15 a.m. However, after that, two traffic breaks were needed to finish clearing debris out of the roadway.
