Loose tire strikes vehicle on SB I-5 ahead of Genesee Ave

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is responding to a collision involving a loose tire on southbound I-5 north of Genesee Avenue, according to the agency’s log report.

A loose tire evidently collided with the windshield of a gray Honda sedan and then became wedged beneath the vehicle. Responding officers believe the vehicle’s driver may have been injured, although further details are not forthcoming at this time.

Authorities close I-5 lane near airport while fighting fire

SAN DIEGO, CA – A lane was closed for an extended time on Interstate 5 near the San Diego airport after a fire along the freeway on Wednesday morning.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the fire happened along southbound I-5 near Sassafras Street at about 10:30 a.m. Authorities blocked the left lane while they extinguished the blaze.

The lane remained blocked at 6 p.m. for clean-up after the fire was knocked back. The lane was finally reopened at about 8:45 p.m.

Roads shut down in El Cajon after watermain break

SAN DIEGO, CA – The El Cajon Police Department shut down a section of the roadway after a watermain break caused flooding on Friday morning.

According to Fox News San Diego, Broadway was closed between North First Street and Oro Street after the break in the early morning hours.

A photo from the scene show the road completely underwater.

Drivers were asked to use alternate routes.

Update: Driver injured in crash at I-15 and I-215 has broken arm

MURRIETA, CA – Authorities are now classifying the multi-vehicle that took place on I-15 at I-215 as a collision with minor injuries, per the California Highway Patrol.

This is an update to a previous post.

According to the latest reports, a Ford F-250 collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was pulling a horse trailer at approximately 8:47 a.m. One or both of the vehicles overturned but landed right-side up in the gore point. The wreck blocked the rightmost lane of the freeway.

Emergency responders performed an x-ray on one of the drivers revealed an arm injury, possibly a fracture.

The roadway was cleared by 10:14 a.m.

Driver extricated after crashing into ditch off SR 94

SAN DIEGO, CA – A person was extricated from their vehicle after hitting a utility pole on State Route 94 on Tuesday morning, according to CHP.

A beige Honda was driving west on State Route 94 when it collided with another vehicle near the offramp to 30th Street. The impact sent the Honda into a utility pole off the roadway, which toppled, and left the second vehicle in the westbound lanes.

The Honda was stuck in the ditch off the side of the road and the driver was trapped. The party was extricated but their injuries are unknown.

The utility pole was down across the offramp. The offramp was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Car and box truck collide on rural Temecula road

SAN DIEGO, CA – A car accident was blocking a Temecula area rural roadway on Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A black GMC Denali collided with a box truck in the 20500 block of Avenida De Arboles at about 1:38 p.m.

The roadway was blocked by the accident and a tow truck was quickly called to help clear the scene.

At this time, it is unknown whether anyone was injured in the crash.

Two pickup trucks crash in I-15 HOV lanes

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pickup truck crashed in the Interstate 15 HOV lanes on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol reports.

The green Ford F-150 crashed in the northbound HOV lanes near Rancho Bernardo at about 12:06 p.m. While the male driver was still inside the vehicle, a second pickup truck—a blue Toyota Tundra—struck the pickup truck that had already crashed. The collision pushed the truck into the southbound lanes.

An ambulance responded to the scene but it is unclear whether anyone sustained injuries in the crash.

Crashed car alerts authorities on I-805

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities were alerted to a traffic collision on Interstate 805 near Sharp Memorial Hospital after the car sent an automated call on Tuesday.

According to CHP, an unknown Ford vehicle sent an automated called alerting authorities that the vehicle had crashed near Mesa College Drive and Sharp Memorial Hospital at about 12:05 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found an electric vehicle had crashed. The vehicle, which proved difficult to move, and a couch were collectively blocking four lanes. It is unclear if the accident was caused by the couch, or how the furniture came to be in the freeway lanes.

At this time, it is unknown whether anyone was injured in the accident.

One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident SR 54

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person appeared injured after a two-vehicle accident on State Route 54 on Tuesday afternoon, according to CHP.

Two vehicles crashed on the onramp from Reo Drive onto southbound State Route 54 at about 3:30 p.m.

A male was lying on the ground, apparently injured, after the crash. An ambulance was called to the scene but further details have not yet come available.

Two-car accident reported on I-5 in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – A two-car accident on Interstate 5 was reported on Wednesday afternoon in Oceanside, according to the California Highway Patrol website.

The accident in the northbound lanes near Cannon Road happened at about 12:03 p.m. A small black vehicle cut across all lanes of traffic and struck a Mini Cooper.

Both vehicles ended up in the center divide.

At this time, whether anyone was injured is unknown. We will update this story should more information become available.
