On Sunday, June 16, 2019, authorities identified a 66-year old man from San Pedro as the pilot killed in a plane crash in Santa Susana Mountains, CA, near Porter Ranch. The wreckage of the crash of the small airplane and the man’s remains were found Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2019. The said man was identified as Daniel Louis Delane. He was pronounced dead shortly after the wreckage from the crash site was discovered at around 2:40 pm in a remote area about 2 miles north of Porter Ranch, CA. It was not known when the airplane that Delane was piloting crashed. Delane piloted a single engine, Chinese made Nanchang CJ-6 military trainer aircraft. The said aircraft had been previously reported as missing before it crashed, according to Federal Aviation Administration officer, Allen Kennitzer. It was not known how long the plane was missing before it was discovered that it had crashed. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
