1 person was killed another individual injured after a highway patrol chase ended in a fatal crash in San Jose early Wednesday morning, August 14, 2019. California Highway Patrol officers reportedly spotted a car weaving on Highway 87 southbound, thus, the officers tried to pull the driver of the said car over for a suspected DUI traffic stop. The car, however, veered left to leave eastbound Curtner Avenue, and, after turning left into Curtner, ran several red lights while officers continued to chase the driver. The car that was fleeing from officers crashed into a light pole, then through a chain-link fence and into a parked trailer on the north side of Tully Road, east of Monterey Road. The driver of the car who was chased by CHP officers sustained non-life threatening injuries. However, the male passenger of the same car was declared deceased at the crash site.
