Disabled tractor-trailer blocks SR-79 in Santa Ysabel

SAN DIEGO, CA – Drivers were being directed around a disabled tractor-trailer on State Route 79 in Santa Ysabel on Wednesday morning.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the tractor-trailer became disabled on northbound SR-79 shortly to the north of School House Canyon Road in the mid-morning on Wednesday.

Crews were directing traffic through the area one direction at a time around the stalled truck.

The closure continued for more than an hour.

Update: 42-year-old man killed in crash on I-15 in Bonsall

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 42-year-old man is dead after plowing his car into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 15 in Bonsall on Thursday morning.

According to the Times of San Diego, the Baldwin Park resident has was speeding past cars in this red 2021 Dodge Charger as he headed south on I-15. He changed lanes into the truck near Lilac Road at about 9 a.m., wedging his sportscar underneath the larger vehicle.

The driver of the truck pulled to the side of the road, believing that he had blown a tire. Only when he exited his truck did he realized he had been hit.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is expected to be released after authorities can reach out to his family.

No one else was injured.

The truck, who had been driving a big rig for many years, reported that this was the first time he’d been in an accident.

Fatal car and truck accident reported on I-15 in Bonsall

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities were on the scene of a fatal car versus tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 15 in Bonsall on Thursday morning.

According to CHP, a vehicle crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes near Old Highway 395 at about 9 a.m. The car was wedged all the way underneath the trailer and crushed by the larger vehicle.

Police have confirmed that at least one person was killed in the accident.

Authorities stated that one right lane would be closed for an extended time.

The cause of the accident is unclear.

Truck accident spills fluid on SR-371 in Temecula

SAN DIEGO, CA – A truck accident caused a fluid spill on State Route 371 in Temecula after crashing with a pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon.

According to CHP, the double tractor-trailer carrying gravel crashed with a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 on State Route near Bradford Road at about 2:20 p.m.

All parties escaped injury. However, crews were on the scene for almost an hourtime following the crash cleaning up a transmission fluid spill.

SUV rear-ends tractor-trailer in Kearny Mesa area

SAN DIEGO, CA – An SUV got stuck underneath a tractor-trailer after rear-ending the bigger vehicle in the Kearny Mesa area on Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, a green Toyota Highlander ran into the back of a Freightliner tractor-trailer near the intersection of Ruffin Road and Kearny Villa Road at about 11:05 a.m.

Both vehicles were blocking the road. The front bumper of the SUV had gotten stuck underneath the rear axle of the truck.

Thankfully, both drivers escaped without serious injury.

Motorist injured in truck-vs.-car accident in Sorrento Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver suffered a head injury this morning when his vehicle was hit by a commercially operated truck at an intersection in the Sorrento Valley area.

The Times of San Diego reports that the collision happened at the intersection of Miramar Road and Miramar Place at roughly 8 a.m. today. The 32-year-old driver of a Chrysler 200 made a turn in front of a Chevrolet Silverado Stake Bed, which collided with the Chrysler.

The Chrysler’s driver was taken to a local hospital with severe head trauma, while the 23-year-old driver of the truck was unhurt.

Three injured in tow truck involved hit-and-run in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three people were taken to the hospital after a hit-and-run accident involving a tow truck in El Cajon on Tuesday.

According to Fox News San Diego, the tow truck was transporting two vehicles south on Jamacha Road. In the 200 block, the truck driver veered unexpectedly into another car, hitting it, which sent the tow truck into several palm trees.

The two occupants of the car, both adults, were seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.

The tow truck driver ran from the scene on foot. However, he was arrested when he came back before authorities had left.

The truck driver also needed medical treatment.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

Trash truck fire reported near Home Depot in Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA – A garbage truck caught fire near Mission Valley on Sunday afternoon, leading authorities to evacuate a nearby car dealership.

According to Fox News San Diego, the garbage truck was near the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and Mission Gorge Avenue when it caught fire at about 3 p.m.

Twenty-two firefighters from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department worked to put out the flames that came dangerously close to fuel tanks containing natural gas. Authorities had the electric company cut power to nearby high-tension lines.

Meanwhile, the nearby Toyota dealership was evacuated as a precaution.

The fire was out in about 45 minutes. There is no word on how the fire started.

Truck involved in multi-vehicle accident in San Marcos

SAN DIEGO, CA – A multi-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer was blocking several lanes on State Route 78 in San Marcos on Friday morning.

According to CHP, a semi-truck crashed with a Honda Accord, an SUV, and at least three other vehicles in the westbound lanes near Woodland Parkway at about 4 a.m.

The crashed truck was blocking three middle lanes.

An ambulance crew was among the first responders. It has not been confirmed whether anyone was injured.

Tow trucks were called to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the travel lanes.

Minor injuries reported from truck and car crash in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – Minor injuries were reported after a tractor-trailer crashed with a car in El Cajon on Tuesday morning, according to CHP.

The tractor-trailer crashed with a Fiat in the 14300 block of Olde Highway 80 just after 6 a.m.

Both parties reported minor injuries after the crash. One person was transported to Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa. It is unclear whether it was the driver of the truck or Fiat

A tow truck was called to remove the Fiat but the tractor-trailer was still drivable.
