Scooter rider suffers brain injury after being hit by car in Mission Bay Park
SAN DIEGO, CA – A scooter rider was severely injured after being struck by an SUV in the Mission Bay Park neighborhood area this afternoon, according to FOX 5 San Diego.
The accident occurred at 1:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of W Mission Drive, when a 67-year-old woman driving a Ford Escape went to the right side of the roadway as she was crossing a bridge. She then collided with the victim, a 30-year-old man operating a scooter.
The scooter rider was taken to the hospital for the treatment of road rash and a brain hemorrhage. He is expected to make a recovery.
Authorities do not believe that the driver was under the influence at this time.

Scooter rider suffers life-threatening injuries in collision with SUV
SAN DIEGO, CA – An intoxicated man riding a scooter was struck by an SUV near Liberty Station on Sunday, according to the Times of San Diego.
The 36-year-old was riding an electric scooter on Byron Street near Rosencrans Street at about 10:40 p.m. He drove through a red light and crashed into a Volvo SUV.
The man was transported from the scene to a local hospital with a brain bleed and other life-threatening injuries.
The 20-year-old female driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
The scooter’s rider was determined to be intoxicated at the time of the accident.
