UPDATE: Road debris near Sea World causes traffic hazard

SAN DIEGO, CA – Our team posted earlier about a ladder in the roadway near Sea World that was causing vehicles to swerve in order to avoid the debris. The California Highway Patrol reports that an accident was caused by the ladder this morning. A vehicle was hit when the ladder fell off a truck traveling southbound on Interstate 5. According to police, a witness caught the incident on video and alerted police to the accident at around 11:40 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the ladder was uninjured in the collision. It’s unclear how much damage the debris caused the vehicle.

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the traffic logs from the California Highway Patrol, road debris caused a single-vehicle collision this afternoon in San Diego. A vehicle was traveling westbound on State Route 54 near Interstate 85 and had to swerve to avoid hitting tire debris in the roadway. Coyote on Interstate 15 creates major driving hazard

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is reporting that a coyote was on the loose this morning in Oceanside. The animal was in the fast lane of Interstate 15 near the intersection for State Route 78. Police were alerted to the animal at around 9:37 a.m. and went to usher the coyote off of the roadways. It appears that a vehicle did strike the coyote, but that vehicle left the scene. The deceased animal was sitting between lanes one and two when police arrived.

Vehicle narrowly misses road debris on SR-74

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one vehicle narrowly missed a car accident this morning in Temecula. According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck carrying a cart with wheels lost its load and kept driving. It’s unclear if the truck driver was not aware of the loss at the time. The cart and its contents fell onto the northbound lanes of State Route 74 near Betty Road.

At least one vehicle called police to report that many cars on the roadway were having to swerve to avoid the cart, creating a dangerous situation for the morning motorists. Police have cleared up the roadway and it is safe to drive in the area at this time.

Road hazard in Oceanside

Truck towing wood crashes, leaves debris all over SR-15

SAN DIEGO, CA – A grey truck towing a trailer full of wood crashed this afternoon in San Diego. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the truck began to lose wood from the trailer and became distracted on the roadway. The driver then drove off of the road and crashed into an embankment on the righthand side of State Route 15 near the intersection for I-805.

The trailer lost a substantial amount of wood on the highway, and police are cautioning drivers in the area to be aware of the road debris and drive carefully.

The driver of the truck was injured in the crash. An ambulance arrived on the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

Concrete debris causes crash on SR-78

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, a crash occurred last night after a car collided with concrete debris scattered across State Route 78. Police responded to SR-78 near Woodland Parkway at around 7:26 p.m. At least one vehicle was damaged by the road hazard. At this time, it’s unclear how the concrete debris got onto the road, but police say it was scattered across at least two lanes of eastbound State Route 78.

A cleanup crew arrived on the scene and closed down the section of the road for about an hour in order to sweep the roadway.
