SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic logs, a woman in a grey 2012 Toyota Camry damaged her car after crashing into road debris. The woman cracked her bumper when she collided with loose wood on the highway. The damage was significant enough that a tow truck had to remove her vehicle from the roadway.

The incident occurred on northbound State Route 163 near Balboa Avenue at around 8:55 a.m. No injuries were reported in the crash.

Road hazard on Interstate 15

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is warning motorists on northbound Interstate 15 of a broken down off-road vehicle near the 9th Avenue offramp. The police were alerted to the stalled vehicle at around 2:58 p.m. and arrived quickly on the scene. The owner of the vehicle told police that they wanted to fix the vehicle at that location and did not want to tow it away.

Police are handling the situation now. Drivers in the area should be aware of the stalled vehicle and drive cautiously as to avoid an accident.

Damaged vehicle causes major road hazard on I-805

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is warning motorists of a damaged vehicle on northbound Interstate 805 near the University Avenue off-ramp. According to the report, a grey SUV is pulled on to the lefthand side of the road and is blocking lane #2 of the the off-ramp. The driver of the vehicle told police that the vehicle had overheated around 10:07 a.m. and wouldn’t drive any further.

Police caution drivers in the area to be aware as they come around the curve that a vehicle is parked there. Drivers should proceed with caution in order to avoid an accident. The CHP is currently on the way to handle the situation, and our team will post an update if any accidents are caused by the stopped vehicle.

BBQ grill in roadway causes traffic hazard on Interstate 5

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol was alerted to a traffic stop on Highway 5 near the Pacific Highway on-ramp this morning. Police officers responded to the scene at around 10:37 a.m. and found that a large BBQ grill was laying on the roadway. Motorists in the area were having to slow down and merge into other lanes in order to pass the road debris.

UPDATE: Road debris near Sea World causes traffic hazard

SAN DIEGO, CA – Our team posted earlier about a ladder in the roadway near Sea World that was causing vehicles to swerve in order to avoid the debris. The California Highway Patrol reports that an accident was caused by the ladder this morning. A vehicle was hit when the ladder fell off a truck traveling southbound on Interstate 5. According to police, a witness caught the incident on video and alerted police to the accident at around 11:40 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the ladder was uninjured in the collision. It’s unclear how much damage the debris caused the vehicle.

Road debris causes accident on SR-54

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the traffic logs from the California Highway Patrol, road debris caused a single-vehicle collision this afternoon in San Diego. A vehicle was traveling westbound on State Route 54 near Interstate 85 and had to swerve to avoid hitting tire debris in the roadway. The impact from the swerve caused the driver to crash into the center divide wall.

Coyote on Interstate 15 creates major driving hazard

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is reporting that a coyote was on the loose this morning in Oceanside. The animal was in the fast lane of Interstate 15 near the intersection for State Route 78. Police were alerted to the animal at around 9:37 a.m. and went to usher the coyote off of the roadways. It appears that a vehicle did strike the coyote, but that vehicle left the scene. The deceased animal was sitting between lanes one and two when police arrived.

Vehicle narrowly misses road debris on SR-74

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one vehicle narrowly missed a car accident this morning in Temecula. According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck carrying a cart with wheels lost its load and kept driving. It’s unclear if the truck driver was not aware of the loss at the time. The cart and its contents fell onto the northbound lanes of State Route 74 near Betty Road.

At least one vehicle called police to report that many cars on the roadway were having to swerve to avoid the cart, creating a dangerous situation for the morning motorists. Police have cleared up the roadway and it is safe to drive in the area at this time.

Road hazard in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol reported a major road hazard this morning in Oceanside. Police were alerted to the debris at around 11:14 a.m. According to the CHP’s traffic logs, several large pieces of plywood were littering the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Mission.

SAN DIEGO, CA РThe California Highway Patrol is warning motorists of large road debris on SR-163 this morning in downtown San Diego. According to the report, a large metal object is sitting in the left lane of State Route 163 near the 11th Street onramp.
