84-year-old woman victim of Escondido pedestrian crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities are working to notify the family of a pedestrian killed by a car at an Escondido intersection last Friday afternoon.

According to the Office of the Medical Examiner, the 84-year-old woman crossing El Norte Parkway at Las Villas Way in front of a stopped vehicle at about 3 p.m. An SUV came up behind the stopped sedan, swerved to avoid hitting it, but instead hit the elderly woman

The woman was taken to Palomar Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The 84-year-old woman was a resident of Escondido. Her identity has been withheld pending family notification.

71-year-old woman injured in Mission Valley hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 71-year-old woman was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in the Mission Valley area on Wednesday afternoon last week.

According to NBC News San Diego, the accident happened outside the Lowe’s in the Fenton Marketplace at about 2:15 p.m. The elderly victim was on foot when she was struck by a gold Honda Accord.

The driver did not stop to help the victim, who had broken bones and head injuries. She was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

Police have released a description of the 2003 four-door sedan, including its license plate number: 4ZNN918, in an attempt to find the driver with the public’s help. The car also had front-end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities.

Street sweeper kills pedestrian in Kearny Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a street sweeper in Kearny Mesa late on Sunday night, according to the Times of San Diego.

The woman was standing in the crosswalk at the corner of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Overland Avenue when the accident happened at about 10 p.m. A 2006 Toyota Tundra street sweeper, driven by a 35-year-old man, was headed west when it struck the pedestrian.

The woman died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.

Pedestrian dead, driver facing charges after fatal Del Mar Heights hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO, CA – A man was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Del Mar Heights yesterday afternoon, according to FOX 5 San Diego.

The crash happened on Del Mar Heights Road, near Crest Canyon Park, at about 2:15 p.m., when a man attempted to cross the street mid-block.

He was struck by the driver of a 2004 Saturn Vue who then fled the scene.

The victim, who has not been publicly identified pending family notification, was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

50-year-old Raul Garcia is suspected to have been the driver. He reportedly pulled over a few blocks from the scene, then returned to the crash after speaking to witnesses.

Garcia was taken into police custody on charges of felony hit-and-run.

30-year-old man seriously hurt by hit-and-run driver near Fashion Valley mall

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 30-year-old pedestrian was seriously hurt after being hit by a driver who then fled the scene of the accident in Mission Valley yesterday afternoon.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the accident happened near the Fashion Valley shopping center located at 7007 Friars Road at about 4 p.m.

A 30-year-old man was walking in a crosswalk leading from a parking area when he was struck by the driver of a blue or black Chevrolet Blazer. The driver then fled the scene.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision at this time.

Pedestrian injured by hit-and-run crash in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was transported to a local hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Oceanside on Monday evening.

According to CHP, a car struck a pedestrian in the 9600 block of Old Castle Road just after 7 p.m.

The pedestrian was transported to Palomar Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries. An initial report suggested that the vehicle had clipped the victim with a side mirror.

The vehicle left the scene immediately following the accident. A description of the vehicle was unavailable.

Man crossing street fatally killed by suspected DUI driver in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, CA – A 38-year-old man crossing the street was fatally struck by a driver in a suspected DUI crash in Chula Vista late Friday night.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the accident occurred near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and L Street at about 10 p.m., as a 38-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street.

He was struck by a driver headed eastbound on L Street, and despite the life-saving efforts of EMS personnel, the victim died at the scene.

The driver, who remained at the scene, was taken into police custody on suspicion of DUI.

The accident remains under investigation.

Pedestrian killed in crash in Imperial Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Imperial Beach area late on Wednesday night.

According to the Times of San Diego, the victim was crossing the street on Palm Avenue near the intersection with 12th Street when he was struck at about 10:50 p.m. by a 2010 Dodge Challenger.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not yet been released.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Authorities determined that alcohol was not the cause of the accident.

Woman injured overnight hit-and-run in Murrieta

SAN DIEGO, CA – A woman was injured in a hit-and-run accident in a residential area of Murrieta early on Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, a woman attempted to jump in a vehicle and fell out in the 30000 block of Korbel Circle at about 3:30 a.m.

The driver then fled from the scene.

The woman sustained injured in her fall, but the severity is unclear.

Pedestrian severely injured after being hit by teen driver in Fairmount Park

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 19-year-old driver is suspected of being under the influence when he allegedly struck a pedestrian and multiple parked vehicles in the Fairmount Park area yesterday afternoon.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the crash occurred in the 4000 block of Home Avenue at about 3 p.m., when the 19-year-old driver of a white 2014 Toyota Scion reportedly collided with a silver 2006 Toyota Sienna parked nearby.

He then struck a 56-year-old man getting something out of the back of his Nissan Versa. The 19-year-old crashed into the man and his vehicle, which was then pushed into a silver 2007 Honda Accord. The impact pushed the empty Accord into a silver 2017 Toyota Highlander parked nearby.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with severe injuries to his leg. He is expected to survive.

The 19-year-old suffered minor wounds in the crash.

Authorities suspect that the driver was under the influence when the crash happened. Their investigation continues at this time.
