One person sustained moderate injuries in a serious DUI car crash that occurred on February 23, 2012, around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of East California and North Santa Fe avenues. According to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Glen Twyman, 25-year-old Robert Jarquin rear-ended the vehicle while driving under the influence and continued on his way until he slammed into a light pole.
The motorist in the vehicle that was rear-ended by Jarquin’s vehicle complained of pain and was immediately transported to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment. Jarquin was later booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence. Read the rest »
81-year-old Barbara Fritschel was struck and injured in a serious pedestrian wreck that occurred on February 21, 2012, around 8:30 a.m. on a Thousand Oaks sidewalk. According to the authorities, Fritschel and 79-year-old Martha Bielke were walking on a sidewalk in the 1400 block of Calle de Oro. Both of them stumbled and fell while trying to move out of the path of a motorist backing out of a driveway.
The driver, 63-year-old Marsha Mann, did not see the pair and continued backing up. He drove over Fritschel. Immediately afterward, Mann stopped at the accident to call for help. Fritschel was treated at the scene and was later transported to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center. She is in stable condition but remained in intensive care. A 17-year-old boy was severely injured in a serious pedestrian accident that occurred on February 21, 2012, around 11 a.m. at an East San Diego County intersection. According to Sonny Saghera, a spokesman for Heartland Fire & Rescue Department, the teen was trying to cross the tracks when an eastbound train hit him at La Mesa Boulevard and Spring Street.
Emergency crews had to pull the boy out from underneath the trolley. Medics responding to this serious train accident took him to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. If it hadn’t been for the conductor’s quick response, the boy could have lost his life. Read the rest »

Two teenagers were injured Sunday evening at around 11:30pm after a high-speed crash in east San Diego County. The car accident occurred on Route 67 (SR-67) near Woodside Avenue.
There were five teens in the car. The driver of the vehicle was trying to pass a slower vehicle when he lost control of the car, skidded down the right shoulder and flipped upside down. One victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and a second with moderate injuries. Read the rest »
A woman faces DUI charges after crashing her car into at least 5 vehicles on Hotel Circle in Mission Valley early Monday morning.
The drunk driver allegedly hit the first car on eastbound I-8 near Sunset Cliffs, but fled the scene. She crashed into a second vehicle while exiting onto Taylor Street. However, the driver tailed her and phoned the police. The woman was eventually stopped after a head-on collision. Luckily, a passerby stepped in before she could drive away from the accident again. A 4-year-old girl suffered a bruise on her head in a San Diego County two-car crash that took place on January 15, 2012, around 11 a.m. on Camino Del Rio North near Fashion Valley Mall. According to San Diego police Officer Jane Jacobsen, both the vehicles involved in this serious wreck sustained heavy front-end damage and airbags in both were deployed.

A 32-year-old active-duty Marine from Escondido was killed in a solo-vehicle crash that occurred on January 8, 2012, around 2 p.m. on State Route 76 (SR-76) on a rural road near Palomar Mountain. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt, the biker was riding a 2007 Ducati motorcycle east of Red Gate Road.
The marine lost control of his bike on a curving stretch and hit the metal guard rail after his motorcycle slid out from under him. He sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Read the rest »
A 28-year-old pregnant woman was struck by a taxi at 4800 Camino De La Plaza on January 3, 2012, around 7:30 p.m. in San Ysidro. According to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros, woman was crossing the street (not in a crosswalk) when a westbound taxi hit the in the roadway.
The woman was seven months pregnant and lost her unborn child in this tragic pedestrian crash. The pedestrian also suffered severe head trauma and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Traffic Division is investigating the incident. If the motorist is determined to have been at fault in this case, then he could be held responsible for this car accident that killed an unborn child and injured a pedestrian. Read the rest »
Gloria Serrano was seriously injured in hit-and-run auto accident that occurred on January 5, 2012, around 5:40 p.m. at Elmhurt Street. According to the police, Serrano was attempting to cross Otay Lakes Road when she was hit by a northbound sedan.
Paramedics responding to this pedestrian accident immediately transported Serrano to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for the injury in her right arm. The driver of the sedan fled from the scene of accident before police arrived. Read the rest »
