Car fire ignites brush in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – A car that caught fire on Interstate 8 in El Cajon on Friday morning light a brush fire on Friday morning.

According to CHP, an apparently abandoned white Toyota Corolla starting spewing white smoke on the righthand side of Interstate 8 near West Main Street at about 9:51 a.m. The car quickly became fully engulfed and started spreading to the brush around the vehicle.

The adjacent onramp was closed while firefighters worked in the area. It was reopened at about 10:30 a.m.

SR-52 lanes blocked by car fire

SAN DIEGO, CA – Caltrans San Diego reported a car fire yesterday evening in San Diego. According to the report, the incident occurred on westbound State Route 52 near Santo Road at around 5:49 p.m.

The far left lane of the westbound roadway was closed for about an hour for investigation and cleanup. At this time, it’s unclear if anyone was injured in the fire. No further details have been released.

Stolen vehicle found on fire near State Route 54

SAN DIEGO, CA – A stolen vehicle was found on fire in Paradise Hills near State Route 54 early this morning. According to 10 News, the Mustang was located on Valley Road at around 4 a.m. The vehicle fire spread to the surrounding bush and burned up the hillside and towards SR-54. Fire crews were able to put the fires out in about fifteen minutes.

Car fire spreads to nearby brush

SAN DIEGO, CA – A car caught fire yesterday evening and caused a brush fire in Barrett Junction. The California Highway Patrol reports that a Nissan Altima caught fire at 1020 Barrett Lake Road at around 6 p.m. yesterday. Police responded to the accident and found the vehicle burning completely through. The fire spread to the brush on the right side of the road. Emergency responders were able to put the fire out and reopen the road after about an hour.

We can confirm that the driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the accident. The vehicle, however, was completely damaged.

Vehicle fire on Interstate 15

SAN DIEGO, CA – A vehicle caught fire this morning on an on-ramp for Interstate 15. The California Highway Patrol reports that a vehicle pulling a large camper trailer was on fire at the Mission Road on-ramp onto northbound I-15. Police responded to the incident at around 9:07 a.m. and found that visible flames were coming out of the car.

The driver of the car was outside the vehicle when first responders arrived and did not report any injuries. It’s unclear how the fire started at this time.

Arsonist sets fire to multiple trucks in La Jolla

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities are searching for an arsonist that set two different trucks on fire early Monday morning in La Jolla. According to 10 News, police responded to the first fire at the 400 block of La Canada at around 12:45 a.m. The fire destroyed the pickup truck, but nobody was injured in the incident. Authorities were notified of a second car fire about an hour later a few blocks away. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, but the second pickup truck was destroyed as well.
