Ambulance called to multi-vehicle crash on SR-78 in Vista

SAN DIEGO, CA – An ambulance was called to the scene of a multi-vehicle traffic accident on State Route 78 in the Vista area on Monday morning.

According to CHP, a black Toyota Camry crashed with a silver Toyota Corolla and a red Tesla in the westbound lanes near Vista Village Drive at about 10:45 a.m.

The accident and debris from the crash were partially blocking the freeway for more than half an hour.

An ambulance was called to the scene to assess the involved parties. Injuries have not been confirmed.

Driver investigated for drunk driving after Pala crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver was being investigated for drunk driving after an accident in the Pala area early on Monday morning, according to CHP.

The two-vehicle accident happened somewhere near the intersection of Lilac Road and Lilac Extension Road just after midnight.

At least one driver was injured and transported to Palomar Medical Center. Authorities suspected the same driver of impairment and order a blood test at the hospital to confirm.

Teen driver, passenger injured in Point Loma Heights crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A teenage driver and her passenger were injured when their vehicle overturned in the Point Loma Heights area on Sunday.

According to Fox News San Diego, the 17-year-old driver of a 1999 Ford Explorer was headed north in the left lane of Nimitz Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Near Voltaire Street, the passenger reached over and grabbed the steering wheel. The driver was startled when the passenger jerked the wheel back and forth and overcorrected while trying to regain control. This sent the vehicle into a bridge abutment under the overpass.

The front seat passenger was ejected when the car when overturned.

Both driver and passenger were transported to an area hospital. Both were seriously injured but are expected to make a recovery.

There were two other passengers in the car that ran from the scene before authorities arrived.

89-year-old man dies in car accident in Borrego Springs

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities have released the identity of an 89-year-old man killed in a car accident in Borrego Springs last Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Office of the Medical Examiner, the driver was headed west in the 1600 block of Palm Canyon Drive when she noticed that her husband–and front-seat passenger–was asleep at about 2:30 p.m. As the woman looked away from the road, her car drifted toward the side of the road. The vehicle overturned when she overcorrected.

The driver was taken to an area hospital and treated for her injuries. Her husband was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified as Alfred Guillot of Borrego Springs.

One person injured in Ramona single-vehicle accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Ramona on Friday morning, according to the CHP incident log.

The accident happened at the intersection of San Vincente Road and Green Haven Lane a few minutes before 10 a.m.

One person was injured and received treatment from medics that responded. The extent of the victim’s injuries was unclear.

The area was partially blocked and a tow truck was called to help clear the scene.

Police investigate driver for DUI after crash near SD State

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities were investigating a driver for DUI after a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 8 near San Diego State area early Friday morning.

According to CHP, a driver was headed east on I-8 at high speeds when they crashed into the center divide and then another vehicle near Waring Road at about 12:30 a.m. The first vehicle ended up facing the wrong way after the crash.

A driver and passenger were able to get out of the vehicle and were not seriously injured. However, when authorities began investigating, they suspected the driver of drunk driving.

A blood test was ordered to confirm.

At least one person dead after single-car El Cajon accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one person is dead after a single-vehicle accident El Cajon on Wednesday afternoon, according to the CHP incident log.

The accident happened in the in the 1600 block of Palm Canyon Drive at about 2:30 p.m.

At least one person was pronounced dead after the crash.

Update: 51-year-old Vista man victim of San Marcos crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 51-year-old Vista man was the victim of a fatal single-vehicle accident along State Route 78 in San Marcos on Tuesday evening.

According to the Times of San Diego, the man had been driving his Dodge Charger westbound on SR-78 when he swerved off the freeway and struck a large Chevrolet van stopped at a light near Woodland Parkway at about 5 p.m. The man’s vehicle became airborne. Before hitting the ground in a parking lot at 751 Rancheros Drive, the vehicle struck two trees, a fence, and multiple parked cars.

The vehicle landed upside with the driver inside. Bystanders acted quickly to right the vehicle and extricate the victim. However, his death was pronounced at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 45-year-old man, did not sustain injuries.

The cause of the accident is unclear.

Lane blocked on I-15 after traffic accident in Pala Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA – One lane was blocked after a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 15 in Pala Mesa just north of another, fatal, accident on Thursday.

According to CHP, a Chevrolet Equinox crashed with a Lincoln Aviator in the southbound lanes on the south side of State Route 76 at about 10:15 p.m.

The two vehicles came to rest in the center divide and fire trucks blocked off the fast lane while emergency personnel worked at the scene. An ambulance was called but, currently, injuries have not been confirmed.

Both vehicles were towed.

The accident happened just to the north of an earlier fatal accident on Thursday.

Ambulance responds to two-car crash in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – An ambulance responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at an intersection in El Cajon in the evening on Wednesday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a good Samaritan called 911 after hearing a traffic collision at the corner of Jamacha Road and Brabham Street at about 6:45 p.m. A BMW was left blocking Jamacha Road while the other car was turned the wrong way and ended up on the shoulder lane.

An ambulance responded to assess the involved parties for injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
