Teen driver, passenger injured in Point Loma Heights crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A teenage driver and her passenger were injured when their vehicle overturned in the Point Loma Heights area on Sunday.

According to Fox News San Diego, the 17-year-old driver of a 1999 Ford Explorer was headed north in the left lane of Nimitz Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Near Voltaire Street, the passenger reached over and grabbed the steering wheel. The driver was startled when the passenger jerked the wheel back and forth and overcorrected while trying to regain control. This sent the vehicle into a bridge abutment under the overpass.

The front seat passenger was ejected when the car when overturned.

Both driver and passenger were transported to an area hospital. Both were seriously injured but are expected to make a recovery.

There were two other passengers in the car that ran from the scene before authorities arrived.

Update: Details released about fatal Carlsbad I-5 rollover

CARLSBAD, CA – A violent rollover accident took the life of a 23-year-old driver on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad early on Sunday morning.

According to NBC News San Diego, the driver was headed north on I-5 when he lost control of his 2008 Hyundai Elantra near Tamarack Avenue at about 4:45 a.m. The vehicle overturned and slammed in the center barrier, which spun the car back into the roadway.

Authorities have concluded that the impact of the crash apparently ejected the driver, or perhaps he exited on his own. Either way, two other northbound vehicles then struck the driver and vehicle.

The death of the 23-year-old was pronounced at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The two other drivers were treated for minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.

Driver overturns into utility pole, downs lines in Lakeside

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the CHP incident log, a driver ran into a utility pole and downed power lines in Lakeside on Tuesday morning.

A driver was on Wildcat Canyon Road when they crashed and overturned in the 13600 block just before 10 a.m. The car rolled from the roadway, hit a utility pole, and landed upside on a power line in the dip alongside the road. The pole was knocked down by the impact and leaning dangerously between the vehicle and the power lines.

Heartland Fire Department personnel, including medics with an ambulance, responded to the crash scene.

Crews from the power company also came to the scene to deal with the damaged pole and downed lines.

Confused victim called 911 after Alpine accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – A woman called 911 after crashing on Interstate 8, reporting that she was bleeding and confused, in El Cajon on Tuesday afternoon.

According to CHP, the woman in a Jeep Cherokee and headed west when she crashed near East Victoria Drive at about 2 p.m. She called 911 and reported that she was bleeding and couldn’t see the road. She also said that she believed that she and the other occupants were trapped in the overturned vehicle.

The emergency crew began to search for a vehicle on its roof in the rea. They found the SUV in a ditch on the right side of the freeway.

The woman and other occupants were extricated, and medics assessed them for injuries.

Rollover accident injures one person in Alpine

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one person was injured when a vehicle crashed and overturned on Interstate 8 in Alpine on Thursday morning.

According to CHP, a single-vehicle crashed and overturned off the roadway on eastbound I-8 near Tavern Road at about 7:10 a.m.

Authorities spent at least 45 minutes clearing the accident scene and treating the victim. The injuries the victim sustained were not considered life-threatening.

One person injured on Alpine road in rollover accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person suffered injuries after overturning their car in the middle of a rural area of Alpine early on Thursday morning.

According to CHP, the driver overturned their car in the 17800 block of Japatul Road at about 3:40 a.m. The vehicle came to rest blocking the middle of the road.

An ambulance responded to the scene and medics treated at least one person for minor injuries.

The area was cleared in about an hour.

Driver crashes after trying to take I-5 exit too late

SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver crashed into a tree after trying to take an exit too late on Interstate 5 near Sea World on Tuesday afternoon, according to CHP.

The man was northbound in a white sedan when he cut across all lanes of traffic in an attempt to exit at Sea World Drive. The driver lost control, hit a tree, and overturned on the offramp at about 1:09 p.m.

The driver was able to exit his vehicle and did not sustain injuries and no other vehicles were involved.

The car was taken from the scene by a tow truck.

Woman injured in rollover crash near El Cajon golf course

SAN DIEGO, CA – A woman was injured in a rollover traffic collision near the Singing Hills Golf Resort in El Cajon early on Monday morning.

According to CHP, a woman was driving a red Honda Fit when she crashed and the vehicle overturned in the 4000 block of Dehesa Road at about 4:05 a.m. The vehicle landed on its roof just east of the Singing Hills Golf Resort.

The woman was able to exit the vehicle and reported minor injuries. An ambulance came to the scene to treat the victim.

The westbound lanes were blocked while a tow truck retrieved the vehicle.

Overturned car blocking on lane on freeway in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – An overturned vehicle was blocking one lane on Interstate 8 in El Cajon on Wednesday morning, according to Caltrans San Diego.

A vehicle traveling west on I-8 crashed and overturned near Los Coches Road before 9:30 a.m.

The right lane was blocked because of the accident and traffic was backed up along the freeway behind the scene.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured.

Rollover crash partially closes I-15 overnight

SAN DIEGO, CA – A vehicle crashed and overturned in a single-car crash on Interstate 5 on Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on I-15 south near I-805 at about 2:33 a.m. A black car crashed, overturned, and landed upside off the road and spread debris over the roadway.

An ambulance was called to the accident scene. At least some of the occupants were able to exit the vehicle and it unclear whether any persons needed treatment from the medics.

The road was partially closed for just over an hour while the scene was cleared.
