Rolled vehicle blocks lane on I-15 near Aero Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA – An overturned vehicle was blocking one lane on Interstate 15 on Tuesday morning, according to Caltrans San Diego.

The vehicle had been headed north on I-15 when it crashed and overturned near Aero Drive around 6:30 a.m.

One left lane was temporarily blocked by the accident but was reopened before 7 a.m.

Further information about the crash is not yet available at this time. We will update this story should more details be released, including the condition of the driver.

89-year-old man dies in car accident in Borrego Springs

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities have released the identity of an 89-year-old man killed in a car accident in Borrego Springs last Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Office of the Medical Examiner, the driver was headed west in the 1600 block of Palm Canyon Drive when she noticed that her husband–and front-seat passenger–was asleep at about 2:30 p.m. As the woman looked away from the road, her car drifted toward the side of the road. The vehicle overturned when she overcorrected.

The driver was taken to an area hospital and treated for her injuries. Her husband was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified as Alfred Guillot of Borrego Springs.

Update: 51-year-old Vista man victim of San Marcos crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 51-year-old Vista man was the victim of a fatal single-vehicle accident along State Route 78 in San Marcos on Tuesday evening.

According to the Times of San Diego, the man had been driving his Dodge Charger westbound on SR-78 when he swerved off the freeway and struck a large Chevrolet van stopped at a light near Woodland Parkway at about 5 p.m. The man’s vehicle became airborne. Before hitting the ground in a parking lot at 751 Rancheros Drive, the vehicle struck two trees, a fence, and multiple parked cars.

The vehicle landed upside with the driver inside. Bystanders acted quickly to right the vehicle and extricate the victim. However, his death was pronounced at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 45-year-old man, did not sustain injuries.

The cause of the accident is unclear.

Driver crawls out of car overturned on SR-78 in Vista

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorist extricated themself from their overturned vehicle after a crash on State Route 78 in Vista after a Tuesday morning accident.

According to CHP, multiple vehicles were involved in a crash that overturned a black vehicle in the eastbound lanes near South Emerald Drive at about 8:15 a.m. The rolled car landed on the righthand side and a Toyota Prius was reported in the slow lane.

The driver of the overturned vehicle was able to crawl out of the vehicle. It was unclear whether they were injured.

An ambulance responded to assess the involved parties.

The area was partially blocked for a time.

Car rolls after being hit by wrong-way hit-and-run driver

SAN DIEGO, CA – A vehicle overturned multiple times after being struck by a wrong-way driver in a rural area of Lakeside early on Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, a driver was headed southbound when they were struck head-on in the 12400 block of Wildcat Canyon Road at about 1:40 a.m. The victim’s vehicle rolled three times before coming to rest in the middle of the road.

The victim was trapped inside their vehicle and called 911.

Meanwhile, the other driver fled the scene.

A few other cars were reported at the scene but it was unclear whether they belonged to good Samaritans or other victims to the wrong-way driver.

Authorities were able to catch up with the suspect that matched the description given by the victim.

The victim reported unspecified injuries from the collision.

Single-vehicle rollover injures at least one in Temecula

SAN DIEGO, CA – A single-vehicle rollover accident injured one person in a residential area of Temecula on Monday afternoon, according to the CHP incident log.

A Jeep was in the 38800 block of Sugar Pine Way when it struck a tree and overturned at about 7:05 p.m., landing on its roof.

All parties were able to exit the rolled SUV before it began to catch fire, including one person who was injured.

An ambulance responded to assess and treat the victim.

Pickup truck overturns in early morning El Cajon crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck crashed and overturned near an intersection on El Cajon early on Monday.

The driver of a Toyota Tacoma crashed near the intersection of Honey Springs Road and Lyons Valley Road a few minutes before 2 a.m. The southbound lanes were blocked by the pickup truck on its roof.

A call came that an ambulance was needed, however, the condition of the involved parties has not been confirmed.

A tow truck removed the vehicle about 3:30 a.m.

Officials looking for victims after empty crashed car found

SAN DIEGO, CA – Emergency personnel were searching the area around a car accident scene along Interstate 15 for victims on Monday morning.

According to CHP, a landscaper working along southbound I-5 found a crashed and overturned vehicle about 100 feet down the embankment near Adams Avenue around noon.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the vehicle abandoned but the key was still inside. They were not able to determine when the accident happened.

Firefighters began searching the area surrounding the vehicle for a victim or victims that may have been ejected. An ambulance was also called to the scene as a precaution.

Thankfully, their search proved unsuccessful.

Two-car Oceanside crash seriously injures at least one

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 in Oceanside on Tuesday afternoon.

According to CHP, a white van crashed with a red pickup truck in the northbound lanes near Birmingham Drive at about 3:15 p.m. The pickup truck overturned and landed on its side in the left lane.

Good Samaritans stopped and the scene and began working to extricate a person trapped inside the overturned pickup. The victim was transported to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries. It is unclear whether anyone else was injured.

The accident scene was blocked for about 45 minutes and reopened once tow trucks removed the vehicles.

Injuries reported after El Cajon rollover into utility pole

SAN DIEGO, CA – Injuries were reported after a car overturned in a single-vehicle crash in El Cajon on Tuesday afternoon, according to CHP.

A white sedan crashed and overturned near Winter Gardens Boulevard and Gay Rio Drive at about 10 a.m. The car damaged a utility pole when it crashed, and the road was blocked.

At least one person suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The power company arrived on the scene to replace the pole once the accident scene had been cleared.
