Fatal Old Town pedestrian accident possibly homicide

SAN DIEGO, CA – Local police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident in Old Town on Sunday that was potentially an intentional homicide.

According to NBC San Diego,  a man was struck and killed by a van in the 4100 block of Wallace Street at about 3:30 a.m. The 48-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 47-year-old woman, remained at the crash scene. Investigators taking her statement were unsure that the incident was a traffic accident and called homicide detectives to the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the woman and man knew each other and had been arguing earlier in the evening.

The woman has been detained as detectives continue to look into the situation.

Labor Day accident on I-8 kills pedestrian

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to Patch.com, an unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed in the roadway of Interstate 8 on Monday night.

The accident happened in the westbound lanes past where Interstate 15 crosses Interstate 8, at about 10:15 p.m. While details surrounding the accident are still unclear, a Toyota RAV4 and a Honda Accord were both involved in the crash, which killed one person. Both vehicles were still on the scene of the accident when a witness called 911.

Local authorities closed lanes on Monday night as they investigated the accident.

Police looking for August hit-and-run driver

SAN DIEGO, CA – Police are asking for help identifying a driver who is still at large after an August hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian injured.

According to NBC San Diego, the driver struck a 69-year-old man near the intersection of Central Avenue and Orange Avenue on August 14 at about 10:15 p.m. The pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk when the unknown sedan hit him.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries.

The driver did not stop or call 911 but turned onto Central Avenue, then backed up and fled down Orange Avenue.

Surveillance footage shows that the sedan may have been dark-colored. It might have damage to the front end.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the police with what they know.

Pedestrian hospitalized after Imperial Beach accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck in the road on Tuesday evening in the Imperial Beach area, according to the Times of San Diego.

The 81-year-old man was hit on 13th Street near Imperial Beach Boulevard a few minutes before 8:30 p.m.

Emergency workers found the man with injuries to his head but still conscious. They transported him to a local hospital where his condition was considered serious.

The driver of the 2018 Honda Civic who struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The crash is still under investigation but it appears that alcohol was not a factor.

Elderly male pedestrian victim of La Jolla crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – The force of a two-vehicle collision Tuesday sent one of the vehicles crashing into a La Jolla pedestrian, severely injuring the 77-year-old man.

According to 10 News San Diego, the two-vehicle collision between a Toyota Prius and a Ford F-150 sent the pickup caroming into the pedestrian as he was standing at the corner of Nautilus Street and La Jolla Boulevard. The Prius, driven by a 76-year-old man, broadsided the truck as it drove into the intersection on a green light.

The pedestrian sustained several serious injuries, including a broken Tibia and fibula in his left leg. The Prius’ driver received a minor cut to the face, while the truck’s 63-year-old male driver was not injured.

An investigation is ongoing but authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol factored in the crash.

Hit-and-run injuries one in City Heights area

SAN DIEGO, CA – Police are searching for a suspect after a pedestrian was struck in a hit-and-run in the City Heights neighborhood on Tuesday.

According to a local news report, the accident happened at about 3 a.m. when a pedestrian was making his way across the roadway at the intersection of 48th Street with University Drive.

The driver left the pedestrian in the street as he fled the scene.

The victim suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Police are searching for the suspect. A description of the vehicle or the driver has not been released as of yet.

Vehicle strikes building, injuries pedestrian on Mission Road

SAN DIEGO, CA – A vehicle struck a building in an accident that happened on Wednesday afternoon on Mission Road, according to local CHP reports.

A vehicle struck a building at 1346 S Mission Road near the North Gate Market a few minutes after 2:15 p.m.

Reportedly, after the vehicle struck the building, the driver exited the vehicle. The vehicle then started rolling and rolled over a pedestrian’s foot.

An ambulance was called to the scene but there is no word yet as to how seriously the pedestrian’s foot was injured.

The vehicle was damaged to the point that it had to be towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.

Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV in Lakeside

LAKESIDE, CA – A man was fatally struck Thursday evening while crossing the street, reports NBC San Diego.

A 50-year-old pedestrian was crossing Maplewview Street near Ashwood Street when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 71-year old man. The driver stopped and tried to assist the pedestrian.

Authorities attempted to treat the pedestrian for his injuries but he succumbed to his injuries. Officers do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, although it is possible the pedestrian was.

Officers are investigating the sequence of events that led to the crash.

UPDATE: Pedestrian injured in Torrey Highlands

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was injured when he was hit by a car while running in a crosswalk Saturday, reports Fox 5.

A 62-year-old man was going for a run at around 8:16 a.m. Saturday when he ran into a Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old man.

The driver had the right of way with a green light at 14200 Carmel Valley Road. The pedestrian tried to cross on the green and ran into the door of the Honda Civic.

An ambulance was called to take the pedestrian to the hospital with major head injuries. Authorities are investigating the incident and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run

EL CAJON, CA – A pedestrian was found injured on the side of Jamacha Boulevard around 8:45 p.m. Thursday evening, reports California Highway Patrol. 

A good Samaritan saw the man on the ground on the side of the road and called the authorities. An ambulance took the pedestrian to the nearest hospital to be evaluated.

Officers concluded that the man was hit by a vehicle. Investigations are ongoing and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
