Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run in Spring Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was injured by a hit-and-run driver in Spring Valley on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at the corner of Olive Drive and Bancroft Driver.  A pedestrian was struck by a white car at about 11:23 a.m. A witness stated that two vehicles had been racing before the accident happened and one of the vehicles fled the scene.

The pedestrian was found on the ground. The victim was bleeding from the head but remained conscious was medical assistance arrived.

Pedestrian killed on I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was killed by a car in an accident on Interstate 5 near Balboa Park on Friday morning, according to CHP.

The accident was reported in the northbound lanes near the exit for State Route 163 and Balboa Park. A vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian at about 8:50 a.m.

Three lanes were blocked for over an hour and a half.

The victim died at the scene. Their identity has not been released and it is unclear at this time how they came to be on the freeway.

Construction worker killed by DUI driver on SR-94

SAN DIEGO, CA – Lanes were closed on State Route 94 after a construction worker was killed by a drunk driver in Spring Valley on Wednesday night.

According to local ABC news, the 27-year-old construction workers was directing traffic in a work zone on SR-94 near Cougar Canyon Drive at about 10 p.m. A 1996 Lincoln Town Car came into the coned-off work zone and struck the construction worker.

The victim, a San Diego man, was taken to an area hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Lincoln, 69-year-old Arnold Lee Patton, was taken into custody for vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.

The incident remained under investigation.

Pedestrian injured in El Cajon hit-and-run crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run accident near Jacumba Park in El Cajon on Monday morning, according to CHP.

The accident happened near the baseball fields at Jacumba Park off Old Highway 80 and Railroad Street at about 9:50 a.m.

The vehicle involved in the car versus pedestrian accident was gone when authorities arrived at the scene of the accident.

The pedestrian was complaining of pain in the knee and was taken by an ambulance for treatment.

Fatal pedestrian accident reported on I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – A fatal pedestrian accident in the early hours of Tuesday was the reason for an overnight closure of lanes on Interstate 5.

According to the Times of San Diego, the accident happened in the northbound lanes near Via de San Ysidro at about 12:40 a.m.

Fatal pedestrian reported in Ramona

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on a residential street in Ramona on Tuesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A white pickup truck struck a pedestrian in the 24100 block of Barona Mesa Road at about 7:30 p.m.

The pedestrian died as a result of the injuries from the incident. Their identity has not been released.

The truck was towed from the scene and impounded as evidence.

Pedestrian injured by train in Little Italy

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was struck and injured by a passenger train in Little Italy on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Times of San Diego.

The man was struck by a Coaster Train on the tracks near West Ash Street and Kettner Boulevard at about 4:30 p.m.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His injuries were considered to be serious but non-life-threatening.

Several streets were closed in the area while officials worked at scene and rail service was also suspended for a time.

The accident is continuing to be investigated by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Pedestrian injured by a hit-and-run in Oceanside

CalTrans worker killed by vehicle in El Cajon work zone

SAN DIEGO, CA – A California Department of Transportation worker was struck and killed in a construction zone in El Cajon just after midnight on Wednesday.

According to a local news story, the worker was on foot inside a construction zone on State Route 94 eastbound near Avocado Boulevard. A driver got on the wrong side of the cones at about 12:30 a.m., struck the worker, and dragged him about 40 feet.

When the emergency crew arrived, the victim was unresponsive. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

The driver, a woman in a small copper-colored hatchback, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Young boy injured in El Cajon accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – A young child sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle on a residential street in El Cajon on Friday morning.

According to CHP, the child was hit by a red Mazda3 in the 2900 block of River Dance Way at about 9:10 a.m.

The boy, whose age was not specified, sustained major injuries from the accident.
