Street sweeper kills pedestrian in Kearny Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a street sweeper in Kearny Mesa late on Sunday night, according to the Times of San Diego.

The woman was standing in the crosswalk at the corner of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Overland Avenue when the accident happened at about 10 p.m. A 2006 Toyota Tundra street sweeper, driven by a 35-year-old man, was headed west when it struck the pedestrian.

The woman died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.

Pedestrian injured by hit-and-run crash in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was transported to a local hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Oceanside on Monday evening.

According to CHP, a car struck a pedestrian in the 9600 block of Old Castle Road just after 7 p.m.

The pedestrian was transported to Palomar Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries. An initial report suggested that the vehicle had clipped the victim with a side mirror.

The vehicle left the scene immediately following the accident. A description of the vehicle was unavailable.

Pedestrian killed in crash in Imperial Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Imperial Beach area late on Wednesday night.

According to the Times of San Diego, the victim was crossing the street on Palm Avenue near the intersection with 12th Street when he was struck at about 10:50 p.m. by a 2010 Dodge Challenger.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not yet been released.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Authorities determined that alcohol was not the cause of the accident.

Woman injured overnight hit-and-run in Murrieta

SAN DIEGO, CA – A woman was injured in a hit-and-run accident in a residential area of Murrieta early on Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, a woman attempted to jump in a vehicle and fell out in the 30000 block of Korbel Circle at about 3:30 a.m.

The driver then fled from the scene.

The woman sustained injured in her fall, but the severity is unclear.

Hit-and-run driver breaks pedestrian ribs in Vista accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian was transported to the hospital after a hit-and-run accident in Vista on Thursday afternoon, according to CHP.

A pedestrian was struck by a car in the 2200 block of South Santa Fe Avenue near the Egg Market at about 6:30 p.m.

When authorities arrived, they quickly transported the victim to Palomar Medical Center. The victim was reported to have stable vitals but broken ribs.

The driver left the scene and a description of the car was not available.

Identity of victim of SD City College area crash released

SAN DIEGO, CA – Police have released the name of one of the victims of Monday’s fatal accident in the tunnel near San Diego City College.

According to NBC San Diego, the 40-year-old victim was Rodney Diffendel.

He was killed when 71-year-old Craig Voss drove onto the sidewalk in a Volvo station wagon and plowed into a group of people that had taken shelter in the tunnel on B Street at about 9 a.m. The accident claimed the lives of two other men and injured six additional victims.

Voss had been arrested and charged with the three deaths, the injuries, and his drug impairment at the time of the accident.

Pedestrian hit by car, seriously injured in Mira Mesa area

SAN DEIGO, CA – According to local Fox News, a car accident on a Mira Mesa road seriously injured a 45-year-old pedestrian late on Wednesday night.

The woman stepped off the curb onto Mira Mesa Boulevard near Greenford Drive at about 10:50 p.m. A 23-year-old driver in a 2017 Toyota Corolla struck the pedestrian as she changed into the victim’s lane.

The victim suffered fractures to her skull and pelvic bone. She was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Update: Ages of pedestrian victims killed Monday released

SAN DIEGO, CA – Police have released more information about the victims who were killed by a DUI driver near SD City College on Monday.

According to the Office of the Medical Examiner, all three victims killed by 71-year-old, drug-impaired Craig Voss were adult men, aged 61, 61, and 40. Police have withheld their names as they attempt to contact their next of kin.

Investigators believe all three men were living a transient lifestyle and had taken shelter in the tunnel in the 1400 block of B Street at the time the accident happened, about 9 a.m. Voss was westbound in a Volvo station wagon when he veered onto the sidewalk and plowed down nine pedestrians.

Five victims were transported to area hospitals. There is no update on their condition. The final victim was treated at the scene.

Voss has been charged with the injuries and deaths as well as driving under the influence of drugs.

Three dead, six injured by DUI driver near SD City College

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three people are dead and six more injured after an elderly man drove into a homeless encampment near San Diego City College on Monday morning.

According to Fox News San Diego, the 71-year-old driver was in a Volvo station wagon and driving west through the tunnel in the 1500 block of B Street at about 9 a.m. The vehicle veered from the street and onto the sidewalk, hitting a group of people.

Authorities pronounced three people dead at the scene. Two others were transported with serious injuries to UCSD Medical Center. Three others, whose injuries were less severe, were transported to other area hospitals. One person received treatment at the scene.

All the victims were adults. Their identities have not been released.

The suspect, a San Diego man identified as Craig Voss, stopped at the scene. He got out of his vehicle and wanted to help the injured people. He cooperated with the police and was arrested at the scene.

He was given a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was been booked for felony manslaughter, counts of causing great bodily harm, and driving under the influence of drugs.

An investigation is ongoing.

At least 8 injured by driver near San Diego City College

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least eight pedestrians were struck by a driver near San Diego City College in the East Village area on Monday morning.

According to KUSI News, the accident happened on B Street between 16th Street and Park Boulevard just after 9 a.m.

At least eight people were struck by a driver, who was detained by police at the scene. The extent of their injuries remains unclear.

The area near the incident was closed into the afternoon.
