On Thursday, July 4, 2019, 2 pedestrians were killed and another pedestrian was critically injured when an SUV crashed through a bus stop and struck the 3 pedestrians before crashing into a tree. The crash occurred at 11:09 am in the 7500 block of Metropolitan Drive near Murray Canyon Road. 2 of the crash victims were reportedly pinned under the vehicle. 1 pedestrian died at the scene. The other pedestrian killed died later on at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene after the accident. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to unknown reasons before crashing it. San Diego police officers were investigating the crash.
