39-year-old driver Houston Ma and 41-year-old Keona Y. Lau suffered severe injuries in a car collision that occurred on December 2, 2011, around 5:05 p.m. along Interstate 15 (I-15) near Baker, along northbound lanes near Zzyzx Road.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, the 2011 Chevy SUV that the two victims were in slammed into a 2000 Kenworth truck driven by 44-year-old Darrin B. Simkins. 20-year-old Dominic Penney of Spring Valley was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on December 3, 2011, around 9:40 p.m. on the intersection of Sweetwater Road and Blossom Lane.
