I-5 lanes close in Chula Vista due to weekend accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – Two lanes were closed on Interstate 5 after a car accident on Sunday evening, according to an alert from Caltrans San Diego.

The accident happened in the northbound I-5 lanes near J Street in the Chula Vista area at about 6:45 p.m.

The left two lanes were blocked by the accident.

Caltrans announced that the lanes had reopened before 7 p.m.

Vehicle fire blocks lane along I-5 during rush-hour

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to block one lane following a vehicle fire on I-5 during Thursday evening’s rush-hour.

According to Caltrans, the incident was reported within the southbound lanes of the interstate near 28th Street at about 5:30 p.m.

No information with regard to what may have sparked the fire has been released at this time. However, rush-hour commuters faced delays in the area as the far right lane was blocked for about a half-hour following the incident.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze.

Collision blocks multiple lanes along I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to block off two lanes on I-5 following a collision Thursday night.

According to Caltrans, the incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m within the northbound lanes of the interstate just south of the exit to Palomar Street.

Details regarding the cause of the crash or if any injuries were sustained as a result have yet to be released to the public.

The two left lanes were shut down for about an hour, reopening by 9:30 p.m.

Two-vehicle crash on I-5 at Encinitas Blvd causes injury

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-5 southbound at the Encinitas Boulevard exit. At least one person was hurt, although the nature of their injuries are unclear at this time.

A black Honda Accord hit a black Volkswagen passenger vehicle. Both vehicles were pulled to the side of the road when officers arrived.
