Car crash reported blocking I-5 lanes near SD City College

SAN DIEGO, CA – A car accident involving multiple vehicles was reported on Interstate 5 not far from San Diego City College on Monday afternoon.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the left three lanes were blocked by an accident in the southbound lanes near State Route 94 at about 1:30 p.m.

Traffic backed up at least as far as Park Boulevard until the accident scene was cleared around 2 p.m.

It is unclear where anyone was injured.

At least one injured in three-car crash in Del Mar area

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three vehicles were involved in a car accident that left at least one person with injuries on Interstate 5 on Thursday afternoon.

According to CHP, the accident happened in the northbound lanes near Via De La Valle at about 3:30 p.m. A dark-colored sedan, a BMW X3 SUV, and one other vehicles was involved.

When authorities arrived, they discovered at least one person who was reported minor injuries after the accident. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.

One left lane was blocked for a time while the scene was cleared.

Car goes down embankment after I-5 crash near Sea World

SAN DIEGO, CA – Several Interstate 5 lanes were blocked after a multi-car accident that sent a vehicle off the road near Sea World on Wednesday morning.

According to CHP, a white Subaru was rear-ended in the left lane on I-5 north just past Sea World Drive at about 11:15 a.m. The driver lost control, hit the center divide, then swerved across all the lanes and over the side of the freeway. Two other vehicles were also involved.

Three lanes were blocked by the accident. When authorities arrived, they quickly moved the vehicles to the right side, partially blocking only one lane. Meanwhile, traffic had already slowed to the south of Sea World Drive.

An ambulance was part of the emergency response team. All injuries were minor.

Police search for victim and vehicle after crash of I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – Police were looking for a vehicle and a victim after a driver went off Interstate 5 in the Del Mar area on Wednesday afternoon.

According to CHP, a black SUV was traveling at high speeds when it crashed off the righthand side of I-5 north to the south of Via De La Valle at about 3:15 p.m. The 911 caller was unsure of exactly where the vehicle landed after going off a cliff along the roadside.

Investigators began searching for the vehicle. Indicators at the scene suggested that the car was traveling at about 60 or 65 mph when it launched off one of the steepest areas of the cliff. They continued to exempt their search and were assisted by an ASTREA helicopter.

Eventually, one victim was found as well as the vehicle. However, the victim reported that another person had been in the car, prompting personnel to continue the search.

The extent of the victim’s injuries is unclear.

Two lanes blocked by Interstate 5 crash in Oceanside area

SAN DIEGO, CA – A traffic collision on Interstate 5 was reportedly blocking two travel lanes in the Oceanside area on Sunday afternoon.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the accident happened on I-5 south at Oceanside Boulevard shortly before 4:30 p.m.

The right two lanes were blocked off. They reopened at about 5 p.m.

No further details are currently available about the accident, including whether anyone was injured.

Multiple lanes blocked after accident on I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – A car accident on Interstate 5 blocked off multiple lanes on Thursday morning, according to a report from Caltrans San Diego.

The accident happened on I-5 southbound near Carmel Valley Road at about 6 a.m.

The HOV lane and the left lane were both closed down due to the collision. They were reopened at about 6:40 a.m.

I-5 lanes close in Chula Vista due to weekend accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – Two lanes were closed on Interstate 5 after a car accident on Sunday evening, according to an alert from Caltrans San Diego.

The accident happened in the northbound I-5 lanes near J Street in the Chula Vista area at about 6:45 p.m.

The left two lanes were blocked by the accident.

Caltrans announced that the lanes had reopened before 7 p.m.

Vehicle fire blocks lane along I-5 during rush-hour

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to block one lane following a vehicle fire on I-5 during Thursday evening’s rush-hour.

According to Caltrans, the incident was reported within the southbound lanes of the interstate near 28th Street at about 5:30 p.m.

No information with regard to what may have sparked the fire has been released at this time. However, rush-hour commuters faced delays in the area as the far right lane was blocked for about a half-hour following the incident.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze.

Collision blocks multiple lanes along I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to block off two lanes on I-5 following a collision Thursday night.

According to Caltrans, the incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m within the northbound lanes of the interstate just south of the exit to Palomar Street.

Details regarding the cause of the crash or if any injuries were sustained as a result have yet to be released to the public.

The two left lanes were shut down for about an hour, reopening by 9:30 p.m.

Two-vehicle crash on I-5 at Encinitas Blvd causes injury

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-5 southbound at the Encinitas Boulevard exit. At least one person was hurt, although the nature of their injuries are unclear at this time.

A black Honda Accord hit a black Volkswagen passenger vehicle. Both vehicles were pulled to the side of the road when officers arrived.
