Crash on SR-78 causes traffic delays and closures in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – A collision on State Route 78 caused traffic delays and lane closures in Escondido this morning, according to Caltrans San Diego.

The accident occurred on eastbound SR-78, near Nordahl Road, at about 8:45 a.m.

The left lanes of the highway were closed as a result of the crash. By 9:43 a.m., the roadway was reopened.

There is no word on the cause of the crash or if anyone was injured.

One person dead following collision at Escondido intersection

ESCONDIDO, CA – One person was killed in a crash at an intersection in Escondido yesterday afternoon, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The accident happened at Centre City Parkway and El North Parkway at about 3 p.m., when at least one vehicle crashed.

One person was killed as a result of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation, and the identity of the victim and the cause of the crash were not immediately released.

Man injured, facing possible charges after crashing while fleeing police in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – A young man allegedly under the influence was injured after he crashed his vehicle during a police pursuit in Escondido early this morning.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the accident happened near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Ash Street at about 2 a.m., when police began to pursue a driver reported for suspected DUI.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle overturned and crashed.

The driver, who was identified only as a man in his mid-20s, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical wounds.

He was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence.

At least one dead when car wraps around pole in Escondido crash

ESCONDIDO, CA – At least one person was killed after a vehicle collided with a pole on the interstate in Escondido last night, according to the Times of San Diego.

The collision occurred on the Escondido Freeway (I-15), near the exit for the Centre City Parkway, at around 11:25 p.m., when a silver sedan collided with a pole on the interstate, causing the vehicle to become wrapped around it.

At least one person died as a result of the crash. Their identity has not yet been released.

The collision dented the pole and caused over 30 feet of damage to the guardrail.

No further details are available at this time.

Two people seriously injured in high-speed Escondido collision

ESCONDIDO, CA – Two people were seriously hurt in a rollover collision involving a speeding vehicle in Escondido Friday morning, according to the Times-Advocate.

The accident occurred at Valley Parkway and I-15 at about 10:45 a.m. when a white 2019 Lexus IS350 and a black 2001 Mercedes E320 collided and trapped both drivers within the wreckage.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 46-year-old man from Vista, was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed when he went over the median and into the lane of oncoming traffic.

The Mercedes then collided with the Lexus, driven by a 52-year-old woman from Escondido, before rolling over multiple times, catching fire, and trapping both drivers.

The two were extricated from the wreckage, then were taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

The collision remains under investigation at this time.
