Man injured, facing possible charges after crashing while fleeing police in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – A young man allegedly under the influence was injured after he crashed his vehicle during a police pursuit in Escondido early this morning.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the accident happened near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Ash Street at about 2 a.m., when police began to pursue a driver reported for suspected DUI.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle overturned and crashed.

The driver, who was identified only as a man in his mid-20s, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical wounds.

He was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
