Valley Center – Guilty Plea In DUI Crash

A woman suspected of killing a motorist in Valley Center pleaded guilty last Wednesday.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on August 3, 2019, 55-year-old Maritza Millan of Indio was driving on Valley Center Road when she attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her. At this point, she crashed head-on into a Toyota Corolla with three occupants. 88-year-old Yasmeen Shaheen of Escondido sustained critical injuries and died en route to the hospital, while two other motorists sustained serious injuries. Millan was also hurt in the collision and needed to be hospitalized. It was eventually revealed that Millan was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Last Wednesday, she pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI and is now waiting for her sentencing.

Escondido – Interstate Crash With Multiple Injuries

Authorities are investigating the involvement of DUI in an interstate crash in Escondido early Tuesday morning.

A few minutes past midnight, a Lexus SUV with two occupants was traveling north on I-15 when it suddenly veered off the highway. The truck then climbed up an embankment before rolling back down the interstate where it was struck by a passing truck. Both occupants were thrown out of the SUV. The first victim, a 20-year-old female from San Diego, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. The second occupant, a 24-year-old man from Florida, died at the scene after he was struck by a passing Chevrolet Cruze. Authorities are currently investigating the crash and looking at the possibility DUI may have been involved. Updates will be provided as more info is released.

Van Nuys, CA- 3 People Injured In A Head-On Crash On Victory Boulevard

Several people were injured in a head-on crash in Van Nuys, CA on Victory Boulevard on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. A car and an SUV were involved in a head-on crash on Victory Boulevard near Kester Avenue a few minutes before 5 am. 3 people sustained major injuries from the crash. They were taken to the hospital so that they could be treated. One of the 3 injured people taken to the hospital was the driver of the white SUV. The driver will be arrested under the suspicion of DUI after she is treated for her injuries. The white SUV apparently richocheted into the sidewalk in front of an apartment building, its engine compartment also smashed in. The gray car’s engine compartment was smashed in and left in the middle of Victory Boulevard, surrounded by a large debris field.

Drunk Driver Injures One in San Diego DUI Accident

One person sustained moderate injuries in a serious DUI car crash that occurred on February 23, 2012, around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of East California and North Santa Fe avenues. According to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Glen Twyman, 25-year-old Robert Jarquin rear-ended the vehicle while driving under the influence and continued on his way until he slammed into a light pole.

The motorist in the vehicle that was rear-ended by Jarquin’s vehicle complained of pain and was immediately transported to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment. Jarquin was later booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence. Read the rest »

Drunk Driver Hits 5 Cars in San Diego DUI Accident

A woman faces DUI charges after crashing her car into at least 5 vehicles on Hotel Circle in Mission Valley early Monday morning.

The drunk driver allegedly hit the first car on eastbound I-8 near Sunset Cliffs, but fled the scene. She crashed into a second vehicle while exiting onto Taylor Street. However, the driver tailed her and phoned the police. The woman was eventually stopped after a head-on collision. Luckily, a passerby stepped in before she could drive away from the accident again. Ventura Hit-and-Run Driver Injures Elderly Motorist in Power Chair

69-year-old Joyce Yamani was struck and injured in a Ventura hit-and-run car crash that occurred on January 16, 2012, around 1:53 p.m. According to the Ventura Police Department, Yamani was riding east on Mills Road sidewalk on her scooter power chair when she was struck by a speeding vehicle driven by 18-year-old Andres Covarrubias. Man Hit in San Diego Suspected DUI Car Accident

One man suffered serious injuries in a car accident that occurred on December 26, 2011, around 1:45 a.m. on I-5 just north of state Route 905 (SR-905). According to California Highway Patrol officer Jesse Udovich, the victim had a flat tire and was waiting for assistance when he was struck by an alleged drunk driver.

The drunk driver Raul Hernandez was traveling northbound when his vehicle struck a Chevrolet Malibu parked on the right shoulder. The collision made the Malibu overturn several times. The victim had to crawl out of the wreck and suffered a cut on his head. Read the rest »

San Diego Fiery DUI Car Accident Kills Woman and Grandson

73-year-old Celia Torres and her 16-year-old grandson David Gonzalez were killed in a tragic DUI car accident that occurred on December 9, 2011, around 5:45 p.m. on state Route 125 (SR-125) in La Mesa just south of Interstate 8 (I-8). According to California Highway Patrol, a suspected drunken driver struck the Nissan Pathfinder, causing it to burst into flames and leave both the victims trapped inside.  According to a passerby Jeff Lieres, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 39-year-old Justin Foulds swiped a car and then struck the Pathfinder, causing a four-car crash. I-8 DUI Accident Hospitalizes San Diego Family

Two adults and two children, a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old, suffered serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on December 4, 2011, around 10 a.m. on eastbound side of the freeway near Waring Road on Interstate 8 (I-8).  According to the California Highway Patrol, a Land Rover heading eastbound at about 80 to 90mph clipped a red car, then rear-ended a Lexus SUV, causing it to spin out and go over the center divider of the freeway.

The impact of the collision made the SUV fall 120 to 150 feet down an embankment. Both the adults in the car were immediately transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital and the two kids were taken to Rady Children’s Hospital to receive medical treatment. Read the rest »

Drunk Driver Flees From San Diego Car Wreck

A possible DUI car accident left two passengers injured on November 12‚ 2011‚ around 4:52 a.m. at Aero Drive and Santo Road. According to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali‚ three men were heading westbound on Aero Drive‚ when the driver lost control. As a result‚ the car drifted north across traffic lanes and smashed into a concrete wall near Santo Road.

The car driver fled from the accident scene after causing the crash‚ leaving his two injured passengers. One suffered minor injuries while the other passenger was seriously injured. Both were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officers believe that alcohol may have been a factor. The accident is still under investigation. Read the rest »
