Alcohol suspected in crash with utility pole on I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one person was injured in a single-vehicle accident with a utility pole on Interstate 5 in Oceanside on Thursday afternoon.

According to CHP, the maroon sedan was headed north when it struck the center divide near Basilone Road at about overturned on the righthand side of the freeway at about 3:30 p.m. It struck a utility pole, which was downed.

When authorities arrived, they suspected that alcohol had been involved an ordered a blood test for the driver, who sustained unknown injuries. It is unclear whether the other party was hurt.

Drunk driver in custody after San Marcos chase, crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A man was taken into custody for drunk driving after crashing a stolen vehicle in San Marcos just after midnight on Monday.

According to Fox News San Diego, a sheriff’s deputy spotted a car being driven erratically and without headlights close to the intersection of Descanso Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. The driver of the vehicle fled instead of stopping for the deputy, and the deputy gave chase.

The suspect failed to make the turn as Descanso Ave curved to the right and crashed through the fence of a home in the 500 block of Alamitos Way. The vehicle then struck a tree and landed in the driveway.

The 32-year-old driver, John Sipp, attempted to evade arrest but was taken into custody. He received treatment for his injuries at Palomar Medical Center.

He is facing charges of DUI, violating probation, felony evading, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Woman investigated for DUI after child-endangerment crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities investigated a woman for DUI after a crash that endangered a small child in National City on Tuesday afternoon.

According to local news, the woman crashed a tan Nissan sedan after speeding south on Highland Avenue and failing to make the left turn to East 15th Street at about 1 p.m. She struck the curb then drove up the guidewire to a power pole, which flipped the car into the street.

Passersby helped the driver from the vehicle as well as the 5-year-old child.

Officers confirmed that the woman had been drinking. A blood test was planned at the hospital to confirm whether she was over the legal limit. The child was taken to a children’s hospital for evaluation.

There was no car seat in the vehicle for the child, so the woman was also facing charges for child endangerment and reckless driving in addition to, potentially, drunk driving.

Police investigating driver on I-5 in Oceanside

SAN DEIGO, CA – Police were investigating a driver for driving under the influence after a crash on Interstate 5 in Oceanside on Thursday morning.

According to CHP, the accident involved a white van, a Chevrolet work truck, and a motorhome in the Aliso Creek rest stop along southbound 1-5 at about 7:45 a.m.

Injuries were reported from the crash but it was confirmed that at least one of the involved parties refused treatment. Further word on the condition of the involved parties has not been released.

Police were investigating at least one of the drivers after they suspected that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Police catch couple who crashes after stealing from winery

SAN DIEGO, CA – Officials caught up with a couple who stole bottles from a winery and drove away after they crashed in Temecula on Tuesday afternoon.

According to CHP, a witness reported that the car was behaving erratically before it crashed into an embankment on Rancho California Road near Anza Road at about 5 p.m.

A driver and passenger were found in the car and both appeared to be under the influence.

As police investigated, they discovered that the motorists matched the description of two people that had gotten into a yelling match at a local winery. The driver and passenger had then grabbed two bottles of wine and fled.

The accident happened a short time later.

It is unclear whether either person was injured when they crashed.

Driver being investigated for DUI after Murrieta crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities were investigating a driver for drunk driving after a car accident on Interstate 15 in Murrieta on Tuesday afternoon.

According to CHP, a white Lexus entered the northbound I-15 lanes at Winchester Road. The driver was struggling to maintain their lane and eventually crashed with two other cars near California Oaks Road at about 1:45 p.m.

Passersby who stopped to assist began to suspect that the driver had been drinking based on the bottles inside the vehicle.

The driver was transported to Inland Valley Hospital where they were being evaluated for DUI.

Single-vehicle accident in Fallbrook under investigation

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities were investigating a single-vehicle accident in Fallbrook early on Friday morning, according to CHP’s incident log.

Two people were inside the vehicle that was crashed into a tree on East Live Oak Park Road near White Fox Run at about 3:25 a.m.

An ambulance was called to the scene but it is unclear if either party was injured.

Authorities suspected that alcohol played a role in the cause of the accident and were investigating on Friday morning to see if the driver was drunk when the crash happened.

Vehicle crashes into Mount Hope home injuring two children

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three people were injured when a vehicle crashed into the back of a residence in the Mount Hope area on Wednesday night.

Local news reports that the driver was on an offramp from SR-94 when he went off the road at the intersection of the ramp with Federal Boulevard and Home Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. The white Mustang landed inside the home in the 3900 block of 39th Avenue.

Two children were asleep when the car crashed into their bedroom and trapped them. The were taken to an area children’s hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The driver was also taken to a local hospital. The severity of his injuries is unclear.

An investigation is ongoing and authorities are checking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

A building inspector was called out to assess the home and the residents have been at least temporarily displaced.

Driver found passed out in car after crash in Rainbow area

SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver was found passed out behind the wheel of their vehicle after crashing into the guardrail on Pala Temecula Road in Rainbow on Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, the vehicle struck the guardrail on Pala Temecula Road south of Arouba Road at about 1:50 a.m. A passerby called 911 when they saw the vehicle blocking the road with its hazards on.

When authorities arrived, they discovered the driver passed out behind the wheel.

Alcohol appeared to have been a factor in the crash.

It is unclear whether the driver needed medical treatment.

Driver suspected of DUI after crash in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – Alcohol was a suspected factor in an early morning rollover accident on Interstate 5 in Oceanside on Friday.

According to CHP, a truck driver was swerving all over the road before it crashed and overturned off the freeway near Coaster Station at about 1:05 a.m.

The driver, a man, was able to get out of the vehicle without assistance. However, when officials arrived, they discovered that the driver appeared to be under the influence.

His truck was towed from the scene while police investigated further.

The cause of the accident has not been confirmed.
