LA MESA, CA – A black Ford pickup truck was traveling along I-8 west when the driver lost control and rolled his vehicle, reports California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 3:38 p.m.
The pickup was blocking the right lane when a smaller sedan slammed into its rear end while trying to avoid a collision. The sedan ended up on its side. All occupants were able to get out of the vehicles and were on the side of the road when officers arrived on the scene.
An ambulance was dispatched to the area to evaluate the occupants of the vehicles. It is unknown if anyone was transported to the hospital.
Tow trucks were also called to the area to set the vehicles back onto their wheels and remove them from the road.
Officers are investigating the cause of the accident and whether the driver of the black truck was intoxicated at the time.
Traffic was moving smoothly two hours later, after authorities cleaned up the area.
