A pedestrian was killed in an accident in Chula Vista early Sunday evening.
At around 6:30 p.m., authorities received reports of a crash in the vicinity of 600 Anita Street. Emergency teams dispatched to the area discovered a 68-year-old woman who was critically injured after she was struck by a Chevrolet 3500 van. The victim was quickly tended to by paramedics and transported to UC San Diego Medical Center where she was eventually pronounced dead. The driver of the striking vehicle immediately stopped and has cooperated with authorities. There is currently no indication that DUI was involved in the crash. Officials have withheld the identity of the victim pending notification of next-of-kin. They are expected to release more info when appropriate.

Gloria Serrano was seriously injured in hit-and-run auto accident that occurred on January 5, 2012, around 5:40 p.m. at Elmhurt Street. According to the police, Serrano was attempting to cross Otay Lakes Road when she was hit by a northbound sedan.

A 25-year-old San Diego based woman, Wendy Hamabata, was killed in a tragic car crash that occurred on December 28, 2011, around 4:35 p.m. while she was northbound on Interstate 805 (I-805) in Chula Vista. According to the California Highway Patrol, Hamabata was driving at about 65-70 mph in her recently purchased black 1955 Chevrolet pickup, when she lost control of the truck, just north of East H Street. It swerved to the left and struck a median wall before overturning.
The impact of the collision threw her out of her truck. Hamabata suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The California Highway Police is investigating the cause of the crash. At least two people are hurt in a Chula Vista vehicle collision‚ which sent one of the cars into an out-of-business Banner Mattress store on May 18‚ 2011. According to the fire officials‚ two vehicles collided with each other at Third Avenue and Naples Street‚ due to unknown reasons.
Chula Vista fire dispatcher said that two ambulances were immediately sent to respond to the accident. From the available information‚ it is unclear what lead to this serious two-car crash that left two people injured and a city building damaged. Investigating officers need to determine whether one of the drivers was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol‚ if there was a violation of traffic‚ or if the driver was speeding. Only a detailed investigation will yield answers for these questions. Eileen Dominque Miranda‚ 18‚ was killed in a fiery car accident on September 25‚ 2010‚ around 5:15 p.m. along Interstate 805. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office‚ Miranda was one of the several passengers who were travelling in a southbound sedan that struck a ravine.
The sedan driver apparently lost control and the vehicle hit a ravine and burst into flames. One of the passersby performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Miranda until the paramedics arrived.
