Traffic stacked up behind Chula Vista crash scene on I-805

SAN DIEGO, CA – Traffic backed up after three lanes were closed due to a multi-vehicle car accident on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista on Wednesday morning.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the accident happened on I-805 northbound near Bonita Road before 10 a.m.

The three left lanes were closed, and traffic slowed behind the crash scene to get by in the remaining lanes. Cars were stacked up as far as East J Street.

Details about the crash have not yet become available.

Single-vehicle rollover crash reported in Chula Vista

SAN DIEGO, CA – A single-vehicle rollover accident and subsequent vehicle fire was reported on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista early on Monday morning.

According to CHP, a vehicle was reported overturned on northbound I-805 between the main lanes and the onramp before Bonita Road at about 2:08 a.m. The report indicated that one of the occupants was temporarily trapped in the vehicle, which then caught fire at about the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident.

It is unclear at this time if alcohol was a factor.

Authorities were able to clear the scene and reopen the blocked lane within 45 minutes.

13-year-old boy hospitalized after driving into rock quarry

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized after overturning an SUV in a Chula Vista rock quarry early on Wednesday morning.

According to a local ABC news, the teenage boy was driving an SUV when he crashed through the gate of the quarry off Hard Rock Road in the area of Heritage Road at about 2 a.m.

The vehicle overturned in the crash.

Witnesses reported seeing more than one teenager get out of the damaged vehicle and flee the scene.

The driver, a 13-year-old boy, remained at the scene. He was transported to a local hospital.

Police attempted to locate the people who flee from the crash but were unable to, despite using a drone.

An investigation is ongoing to determine how the 13-year-old came to be driving, who else was involved, and the other circumstances surrounding the crash.

Collision blocks multiple lanes along I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to block off two lanes on I-5 following a collision Thursday night.

According to Caltrans, the incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m within the northbound lanes of the interstate just south of the exit to Palomar Street.

Details regarding the cause of the crash or if any injuries were sustained as a result have yet to be released to the public.

The two left lanes were shut down for about an hour, reopening by 9:30 p.m.

Elderly man in severe pain after Chula Vista crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – An elderly man was complaining of severe pain after crashing his vehicle on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista on Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the male driver crashed into the center divide in the northbound lanes near Orange Avenue at about 12:40 p.m.

The driver, a man in his 70’s, was complaining of severe pain when emergency workers arrived at the scene.

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person was injured in a vehicle accident on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes near the exit for H Street just before 12:30 p.m.

Bus accident in Chula Vista injures two

SAN DIEGO, CA – A public transit bus accident in Chula Vista injured two people early Tuesday, according to Fox News San Diego.

The Metropolitan Transit System bus crash was reported at about 6:45 a.m. on East Palomar Street. The driver lost control of the bus for reasons that are not yet clear. The bus struck several parked cars in the area of Josselyn Avenue.

The driver and one passenger received treatment for minor injuries following the accident. Because further details concerning the accident have not become clear, the bus driver has not been cited in the accident.

Three injured in Chula Vista rollover crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three people were in an overturned vehicle accident in Chula Vista early on Monday, according to 10 News San Diego.

The accident happened at about 1 a.m. near East H Street and Otay Lakes Road. The three occupants of the vehicle, two passengers and a driver, were climbing out of the car when officials arrived on the scene.

The driver apparently lost control on a curve before hitting the median, spinning, and flipping the vehicle.

Speed was thought to be a factor in the accident.

Two of the victims were transported to a local hospital while the third received treatment at the scene. The injuries were not life-threatening.
