Motorcyclist seriously injured after he falls off embankment near Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, CA – A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries after he fell down a steep embankment near Lake Elsinore on Thursday afternoon, according to MyNewsLA.

The accident occurred on the Ortega Highway (Highway 74), near the Tenaja Truck Trail, just before 1 p.m., when a male motorcyclist went off the side of the roadway. He fell down the embankment and was unable to extricate himself.

He was rescued with the use of a hoist system over an hour later, before emergency crews airlifted him to the hospital as a trauma alert.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained a broken leg among other injuries.

Authorities closed both directions of the highway for the rescue operation.

Downed tree and alleged DUI accident lead to road closures in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, CA – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that a possible drunk-driving accident had led to road closures in San Marcos early this morning.

The accident happened near the intersection of N Twin Oaks Valley Road and San Marcos Boulevard, and was reported by authorities at 3:46 a.m.

A vehicle rolled over during the accident, which the SDCSO said involved a drunk driver.

A tree had fallen into the street, leading authorities to close the roadway during the cleanup efforts.

It is unknown if anyone was injured in the collision.

Pedestrian killed after being hit by vehicle in La Quinta

LA QUINTA, CA (RIVERSIDE COUNTY) – One person died in Riverside County after being struck by a vehicle on Friday, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The accident occurred in La Quinta, which is located about 6 miles east of Palm Desert, at the intersection of Dune Palms Road and Highway 111 at 7:15 p.m., when a pedestrian was struck by a driver.

The victim, who has yet to be publicly identified, died at the scene.

The driver was not reported as injured.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident at this time.

One person killed after vehicle collides with fencing in Vista rollover accident

VISTA, CA – One person is dead after a vehicle crashed through fencing in Vista this morning, according to The Times of San Diego.

The accident occurred just before 6:35 a.m. at 118 Hannalei Drive, located near Hannalei Elementary School, when a driver lost control of their vehicle, causing it to roll over an unspecified number of times.

The car then went through a fence before coming to rest atop a set of train tracks.

The driver died as a result of the crash. No other injuries were immediately reported.

The identity of the victim has not yet been made available at this time.

Pedestrian killed after being hit by OC Line train near Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, CA – A pedestrian was killed early yesterday morning after being hit by a Metrolink train near the San Clemente Pier and Oceanside stations, according to MyNewsLA.

OC Line train 603, headed for Los Angeles, struck the unidentified pedestrian at about 5:35 a.m. The victim died of injuries sustained during the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the accident were not made immediately available.

Metrolink authorities stopped the train and were attempting to find alternative routes for the affected passengers.

No other injuries were reported in the accident.
