Update: Man expected to recover after Carlsbad cliff crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – The driver of an SUV escaped with non-life-threatening injuries after crashing his vehicle over a cliff on Carlsbad Beach on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Fox News San Diego, the white Subaru Forester left Carlsbad Avenue near Palomar Airport Road a few minutes after 5 p.m. and went flying off the cliff face. The vehicle landed on its side at the edge of the water.

A Good Samaritan who saw the accident rushed down to the sand and began freeing the vehicle. Water was coming up to the victim’s chest inside the vehicle, as the passerby began to free him.

The victim sustained injuries to his pelvis, ribs, and neck and was taken to an area hospital, however, the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The cause of the accident is unclear.

Man rescued after car goes off cliff at Carlsbad Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA – A man was rescued from the edge of the ocean after apparently driving his car off of a cliff at Carlsbad Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Fox News San Diego, the accident happened off Carlsbad Avenue near Palomar Airport Road at about 5:10 p.m. For unknown reasons, the white SUV went through the guardrail and another fence before crashing down the side of a cliff face. The vehicle landed on its side on the edge of the water.

Rescuers pulled one person from the vehicle. They strapped him in a stretcher and, with the help of lifeguards and firefighters, were able to hoist the victim back to the top of the cliff.

The extent of the victim’s injuries is unclear.

The road was closed in both directions while crews worked at the scene.

Driver killed in weekend I-5 crash in Carlsbad identified

SAN DIEGO, CA – The driver that was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad early on Sunday morning has been identified.

According to the Office of the Medical Examiner, the victim was Brayand Cambell-Davilla, a 23-year-old Imperial Beach man.

Cambell-Davilla was headed north on I-5 when he crashed with the center divide at about 4:45 a.m. The impact of the crash sent his vehicle spinning back into the lanes. Two more vehicles then struck the victim and his vehicle.

Cambell-Davilla was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash scene area was closed for hours on Sunday.

Update: Details released about fatal Carlsbad I-5 rollover

CARLSBAD, CA – A violent rollover accident took the life of a 23-year-old driver on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad early on Sunday morning.

According to NBC News San Diego, the driver was headed north on I-5 when he lost control of his 2008 Hyundai Elantra near Tamarack Avenue at about 4:45 a.m. The vehicle overturned and slammed in the center barrier, which spun the car back into the roadway.

Authorities have concluded that the impact of the crash apparently ejected the driver, or perhaps he exited on his own. Either way, two other northbound vehicles then struck the driver and vehicle.

The death of the 23-year-old was pronounced at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The two other drivers were treated for minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.

Three lanes blocked after I-5 crash in Carlsbad

SAN DIEGO, CA – Three freeway lanes were blocked on Interstate 5 near Tamarack in Carlsbad after a vehicle accident early Easter morning.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the accident happened in the northbound freeway lanes to the south of Tamarack Avenue before 5 a.m.

The three left lanes were blocked by the car accident and remained blocked until after 11 a.m.

Ambulance called to high-speed crash in Carlsbad

SAN DIEGO, CA -An ambulance was called to a high-speed traffic collision scene on State Route 78 in Carlsbad on Monday morning, according to CHP.

A dark-grey Ford Taurus was driving eastbound at high-speeds on SR-78 when they crashed into the center barrier near El Camino Real just before 8 a.m.

A witness called 911 and reported that the driver had been able to get out of the vehicle but was bleeding. An ambulance rushed to the scene to treat the person.

Meanwhile, authorities worked to clear the accident scene and called a tow truck.

Driver having medical episode crashes on I-5 in Carlsbad

SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver crashed into the center divide after having a seizure while on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad on Friday morning.

According to CHP, a black Infiniti sedan was northbound on I-5. The driver appeared to lose control and the vehicle veered from left to right then back into the center divide near the exit for Carlsbad Village at about 7:05 a.m.

When officials arrived, they found the driver was locked inside the vehicle with the tinted windows up.

The driver was eventually extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital. It was determined that that the accident happened because the driver had a seizure. Thankfully, he was not severely injured.

A dog was also inside the car and officials decided to take the animal to the owner’s house.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Two lanes blocked lanes backed up traffic after multiple vehicles crashed on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad on Wednesday morning.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the left two lanes were blocked on northbound I-5 at Cannon Road at about 9 a.m. after several vehicles crashed.

Traffic backed up past Palomar Airport Road until the roadway reopened at about 9:30 p.m.

Woman seriously injured when vehicle rolls in Carlsbad

SAN DIEGO, CA – A woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after her vehicle overturned on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad on Thursday morning.

According to Fox News San Diego, the woman was driving southbound on I-5 when she crashed near Cannon Road at about 8:30 a.m. Her car rolled all the way over, landed back on its wheels, then slammed in the guardrail.

The woman was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the authorities, who then transported her to a local hospital.

One person hospitalized after crash in Carlsbad

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person was taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash that happened on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad on Wednesday afternoon.

According to CHP, the involved vehicles were a red Chevrolet Equinox, a white Hyundai Elantra, and a Toyota RAV-4. They collided on I-5 south near Carlsbad Village Drive at about 3:30 p.m.

Parties from three of the vehicles reported minor injuries and one person was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The scene was cleared and the area reopened about 45 minutes after the crash.
