No injuries after truck runs into tree in El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA – No injuries were reported after a pickup truck ran into a tree in a rural area of El Cajon early on Tuesday morning, according to CHP.

A white Dodge Ram pickup truck ran off the road into a tree near the intersection of Pile Street Pamo Road at about 5:45 a.m. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and reported no injuries.

The factors that caused the crash are unknown.

A tow truck responded to the scene and towed the vehicle.

Rollover crash in I-15 causes morning back up

SAN DIEGO, CA – Traffic was backed up on Interstate 15 on Tuesday morning after a vehicle jumped the center divide and overturned, according to CHP.

A small red vehicle was driving southbound near Interstate 8 at about 5:30 a.m. when it barreled across the center divider and overturned in the northbound lanes. It is unclear whether any other vehicles were involved.

More than one lane was blocked by the accident and traffic quickly began to stack up. Drivers were delayed as far back as Adams Avenue. Crews were able to reopen all lanes before 6 a.m. and traffic was cleared up shortly after.

The condition of the involved parties has not been released. We will update this story should more information come to light.

Overturned vehicle traps victim in Chula Vista

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person was trapped in an overturned vehicle in Chula Vista after a crash on Monday afternoon, according to CHP.

The accident happened in the 3900 block of Bonita Road near Willow Street at about 12:30 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in the crash that was blocking lanes.

One person was trapped in a vehicle that had overturned. Once emergency workers arrived on the scene, they began treatment for one victim in each vehicle. Both sustained major injuries and trauma in the accident.

They were transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

All eastbound lanes were blocked while authorities worked at the scene.

Update: Two dead after car drives into Sweetwater River

SAN DIEGO, CA – The driver and passenger of an SUV that drove of State Route 54 into the Sweetwater River both died at the scene of the Friday morning accident.

According to local news, a 69-year-old man was driving the Lexus SUV when he careened across a walking path near the river and overturned in the water at about 5:40 a.m.

Divers pulled the driver and a single passenger from the water after the crash. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have been withheld pending notification of their families.

The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been released as of yet.

Elderly man involved in Temecula crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – An elderly man was involved in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 74 in Temecula on Friday morning, according to the CHP.

The California Highway Patrol was able to be almost immediately at the scene on State Route 74 near West Ellis Avenue. A silver four-door sedan had struck a pole and a silver minivan at about 8:38 a.m. One of the drivers was an elderly male, but it unclear which vehicle he was in.

An ambulance reported to the scene. Injuries have not been confirmed.

Witness calls 911 after car drives in Sweetwater River near I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – A witness called authorities after seeing a vehicle drive into the Sweetwater River off State Route 54 near Interstate 5 on Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman was on a walking path when the vehicle went right past her off the westbound roadway into the water near National City Boulevard and Highland Avenue at about 5:40 a.m. She called 911 and reported that the vehicle was submerged in the water.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene they began closing down the nearby ramp to southbound Interstate 5 so they could retrieve the vehicle, using a tow truck and cable.

An ambulance was on the way to the scene but injuries have not been confirmed at this time.

Car takes down power lines in Temecula

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities responded to a single-vehicle crash that took down a telephone pole on a Temecula area backroad on Thursday morning.

According to CHP, a silver Chrysler 300 went off the road, down an embankment, and struck the telephone near the intersection of Avenida la Cresta and Via Entrada just before 7:30 a.m. The car was about 50 feet down the embankment.

The telephone pole was broken at the bottom and power lines were down across the road. It took emergency crews about an hour to clear the scene and reopen the road.

Injuries have not been confirmed.

Man arrested after passenger dies in Paradise Hills

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person has been arrested after an early morning crash took the life of an 18-year-old woman in the Paradise Hills area on Wednesday.

According to Fox News San Diego, a 19-year-old man lost control of a 1992 Mercedes on Paradise Valley Road near Munda Road at about 1:45 a.m. The car left the road and went into the canyon.

The Mercedes was carrying four passengers at the time of the crash. All five occupants were able to exit the vehicle and climb out onto the roadway. One of the passengers, an 18-year-old woman, sustained internal injuries in the crash. She was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Her identity has been withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the car fled the crash site but was later apprehended when authorities found him in the bushes nearby. He was arrested under suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Update: Details emerge about fatal Spring Valley crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – More details have come to light about the fatal car accident that killed one person near a Spring Valley intersection on Wednesday morning.

According to an area news source, the single-vehicle crash occurred when a Chula Vista man careened off the Paradise Valley Road near Worthington Street in a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. After going over the sidewalk, the vehicle crashed through a chain-link fence, down an embankment, and into a tree stump.

The 52-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was apparently laying in the backseat without a seatbelt at the time of the 6:50 a.m. crash. She was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency crews performed life-saving measures but she was unresponsive and ultimately succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has been withheld pending notification of family.

The 49-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt when he lost control of the car.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident is still underway.

Occupants abandon car after crash in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to CHP, the several occupants of a Honda Civic abandoned their car after spinning out and crashing on Interstate 15 in Oceanside on Wednesday morning.

The grey Honda Civic crashed in the center divide in the northbound lanes near State Route 76 after spinning out for unknown reasons at about 4:50 a.m.

The car was carrying three or four occupants who were all seen walking away from the vehicle. When emergency crews arrived they found the car abandoned and attempted to search for the parties who had started northbound along the freeway in the dark.

It is unknown whether any of the involved parties suffered injuries.
