EL CAJON – A car was reported to be blocking the entrance to Mount Helix Park this evening. Police officers were sent to the scene around 7:35 p.m. to investigate.

The park’s hours have been temporarily shortened due to the coronavirus. The car is effectively blocking access at this time.

Traffic News: Hit-and-run on I-15 South

OCEANSIDE, CA – A black Lexus SUV was hit by a speeding red Camaro I-15 South around 7 p.m.

According to the driver of the SUV, the red car saw police officers and attempted to flee, hitting the Lexus as it pulled to the side of the road.

No injuries have been reported. Officers have been sent to the scene to investigate.

Investigations are ongoing.

SAN DIEGO, CA – The right two lanes of SR-94 heading eastbound are blocked due to a multi-vehicle crash.

Authorities and an ambulance have been called to the area. There has not been any indication of injuries.

Motorists in the area should exercise caution. Traffic has slowed in the area.

SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol is on scene of a traffic collision on SR 52 East, which is partially blocking the off ramp for Santo Road.

There is no indication of injuries at this time.

The accident is impacting traffic partially.

Overturned vehicle reported on SR-94 East of the 805

SAN DIEGO, CA – A truck experienced a blowout while traveling West on CA-94 and rolled over, landing in the middle lane. The truck is blocking two lanes of traffic, causing a back-up in the area.

The fire department has been dispatched to the location, as has a tow truck.

No injuries have been reported.

Injuries reported at a vehicle crash on De Portola Rd.

TEMECULA, CA – California Highway Patrol officers are at the scene of a rollover accident that seriously injured at least one person and led to a broken water main on De Portola Road this morning

The accident was called in at 8:52 a.m. and CHP were on scene within minutes.

A 44-year-old male, presumably the driver of the overturned vehicle, reported leg pain to medics.

Rancho Water was called to the location to repair the broken water main.

Single vehicle crash kills one early Thursday

FALLBROOK, CA – According to the Times of San Diego, the California Highway Patrol was alerted around 2 a.m. of a single vehicle crash on westbound state Route 76 at Via Monserate.

The driver was traveling westbound on Route 76 when they slammed into a traffic pole at the corner of Via Monserate.

The 1999 Dodge minivan caught fire and was quickly engulfed, trapping the driver.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been made public.

The crash impacted traffic on Via Monserate for a portion of the morning.

San Diego man dead in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 805

SAN DIEGO, CAL – A 20-year-old San Diego man driving a maroon Acura died on Thursday morning following an accident on Interstate 805, according to NBC San Diego.

The victim had been seen driving at excessive speeds and swerving from lane to lane just prior to the accident. Upon trying to exit the highway the driver seemed to lose control of the car and struck a pole before rolling down an embankment. The victim died at the scene.

The crash was reported to authorities around 6 a.m. and caused multiple lanes to be shut down on I-805 during the investigation. The accident occurred near Balboa Avenue on the northbound lanes of I-805.

The driver has only been identified as a 20-year-old man from San Diego. There were no other casualties or injuries. It is not known yet if the driver was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

This crash remains under investigation.

Pedestrian Killed By Swerving Truck in Riverside

A woman was struck and killed in a severe pedestrian wreck that occurred on February 24, 2012, around 12:29p.m. on Arlington Avenue, west of Fairhaven Drive in the far western end of the city. According to Lt. Eric Charrette, a black pickup crossed the double-yellow line, causing the driver of another truck to veer off the road to avoid the collision. Unfortunately, the driver instead ran into a female pedestrian walking east along the south edge of the street.

Paramedics responding to this serious car wreck treated the victim at the scene and later transported her to Riverside Community Hospital, where she died of her injuries. Read the rest »

Drunk Driver Injures One in San Diego DUI Accident

One person sustained moderate injuries in a serious DUI car crash that occurred on February 23, 2012, around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of East California and North Santa Fe avenues. According to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Glen Twyman, 25-year-old Robert Jarquin rear-ended the vehicle while driving under the influence and continued on his way until he slammed into a light pole.

The motorist in the vehicle that was rear-ended by Jarquin’s vehicle complained of pain and was immediately transported to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment. Jarquin was later booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence. Read the rest »
