A deputy and 2 pedestrians were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Bellflower, CA on Tuesday night, July 23, 2019. The crash occurred a few minutes after 9 pm while the deputy was responding to a call to help another deputy who was in the process of detaining a man with a knife. A vehicle then stopped in front of the deputy, thus, causing a crash between that vehicle and the deputy’s patrol vehicle as it was about to enter the intersection of Downey Avenue and Ramona Street. The patrol vehicle then crashed into a parked car and ended up being on a sidewalk. The deputy and the 2 pedestrians only sustained minor injuries from the accident. According to investigators, they believed that the crash was not intentionally inflicted.
