Suspected Oceanside Drunk Driver Arrested after Crashing into Three Vehicles
Twenty-six-year-old Odilon Francisco Alcala crashed into three vehicles on September 4 around 4 p.m. near College Boulevard. According to an Oceanside Police statement, Alcala was driving his 2001 Chevy Tahoe when he sideswiped two vehicles that had stopped at a red light on College Boulevard going northbound. After hitting the two vehicles, Alcala rear ended another vehicle that had stopped at the red light waiting to turn onto Oceanside Boulevard.
Fortunately, Oceanside Police Chief Frank McCoy witnessed the entire accident. As Alcala continued to drive away after the crash, McCoy followed him and later detained Alcala along with his passenger at the 1700 block of Avenida De Suenos. Oceanside Police Captain Fred Armijo said that Alcala later was arrested for felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
One person suffered minor injuries in this DUI collision. Our law office sincerely hopes that the injured victim recovers soon.
Alcala was booked into the Vista jail for misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, causing injury because of the hit-and-run, and driving without a license Alcala is scheduled to be arraigned at the Vista courthouse next week and his bail was set at $80,000.
