Suspected DUI driver injuries sleeping man in Mission Bay
SAN DIEGO, CA – A sleeping man was injured by a suspected drunk driver while he was sleeping in his parked vehicle in the Mission Bay Area on Wednesday.
Fox News San Diego reports that a 21-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle on East Mission Bay Drive in the area of Clairemont Drive and SeaWorld Drive at about 5:20 a.m. He struck a car parked along the side of the road, injuring a 58-year-old man sleeping in the stationary vehicle. That car was then pushed into a third vehicle.
The injured man was transported to a hospital in La Jolla where he received treatment for a severe brain bleed.
There was also someone sleeping in the third vehicle, but they were uninjured.
The driver was suspected to be driving under the influence at the time of the crash. His name has not been released.
