UPDATE: Single vehicle crash kills one and sends two to the hospital
SAN DIEGO, CA – A single-vehicle collision with a tree killed one person and sent two to the hospital, reports NBC 7 San Diego.
A Jeep carrying two passengers slammed into a tree on Pala Temecula Road in north San Diego. Officers were dispatched to the area and found the Jeep had been severely damaged and that multiple people were trapped inside.
Witnesses helped extricate the driver and one passenger. The other passenger was partially ejected from the force of the crash and died at the scene. An ambulance took the driver and passenger to the hospital with major injuries.
Officers believe speed played a factor in the collision. It was also discovered that the driver was under the influence of cannabis which may have impacted his driving. The driver was arrested at the hospital after officers finished processing the scene.
