Semi-versus-car crash blocks lanes in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, CA – A semi truck and a smaller vehicle collided on the I-5 south near Las Pulgas, blocking the slow lane, reports California Highway Patrol.
An 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle collided around 3:07 p.m. on the 5 southbound. The resulting wreck blocked the slow lane. One of the drivers was directing traffic outside of the vehicle to ensure no other vehicles would crash into them.
A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the disabled vehicles. Because of the nature of the crash and the size of the 18-wheeler, officers had to initiate a traffic break to clear the area.
An ambulance was called to the area but it is unknown if anyone was transported to the hospital. Officers do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor. They are also investigating the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
