Santa Rosa, CA- Bicyclist Killed After He Was Struck By 2 Cars On Petaluma Hill Road

A bicyclist was killed after he was struck by 2 cars early Tuesday, July 23, 2019, near Santa Rosa, CA. The 2 crashes happened about 12:15 am while the bicyclist was riding his bicycle south on Petaluma Hill Road near Hopi Trail, an unincorporated Sonoma County, located between Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park. The bicyclist was first hit by a Ford Focus. This car was reportedly being driven by a 28-year old woman from Santa Rosa. As such, the bicyclist was ejected from his bicycle and ended up being on the roadway. On the roadway, the bicyclist was then struck by a southbound 2017 Subaru Legacy. The driver of this vehicle was a 28-year old woman from Rohnert Park. Both of the 2 drivers remained at the crash site after the accident. According to the California Highway Patrol, they did not believe that the 2 drivers were impaired at the time of the crash. The bicyclist was reportedly wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash. Investigators reportedly were not aware if he was impaired or not at the time of the crash.
