A 25-year-old Pauma Valley woman was struck and killed in San Diego pedestrian crash that occurred on August 22‚ 2011‚ around 3:30 a.m. alongside state Route 76 (SR-76). The young woman was walking near Harolds Road when she was hit by a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by 69-year-old Rickey Burns.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Chris Parent‚ Burns swerved his vehicle to avoid hitting the young lady‚ but could not. After hitting the pedestrian‚ Burns left the car near the valley Center Road and fled from the accident scene along with his passengers. Burns was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The family of the deceased can seek compensation to cover funeral and burial costs‚ loss of anticipated earnings‚ loss of love‚ care and companionship‚ and other accident-related damages from the Ford driver. It is inhuman to leave someone injured at the scene of an accident. His negligence and reckless driving led to this car accident. There is no excuse for a hit-and-run crash. Not only is it a violation of California Vehicle Code Section 20001(a)‚ but it is simply morally reprehensible that someone would cause such a major accident and then leave the scene of the accident.

The deceased’s family members should immediately consult with an experienced San Diego County pedestrian accident lawyer who would stay abreast with the official investigation and make sure that the negligent party is held liable.
