1 dead, 1 hospitalized after wrong-way crash on I-8 in Lakeside

LAKESIDE, CA – One person is dead, and a driver has been sent to the hospital following a wrong-way collision on I-8 in Lakeside early yesterday morning, according to FOX 5 San Diego and the Times of San Diego.

The crash happened on westbound I-8, near Dunbar Lane, at about 2 a.m., when at least two vehicles, possibly a sedan and an SUV, collided.

Multiple other vehicles crashed into debris that was strewn onto the roadway from the crash.

One person died as a result of the accident.

The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital with severe, life-threatening wounds.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victims.

The crash happened after reports of a car driving recklessly and swerving between lanes while headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

The westbound lanes of I-8 were closed for multiple hours following the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.

Wheel detaches from pickup truck, strikes two vehicles in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, CA – A wheel flew off a woman’s car, then struck the vehicle of an Escondido Police officer, in a San Marcos crash yesterday that left the officer with injuries, according to the Times of San Diego. 

The collision occurred on State Route 78, near Twin Oaks Valley Road, at about 12 p.m., when a wheel came off the back of a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by a 40-year-old woman from Vista.

The wheel flew over to the opposite side of the highway, striking a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, then a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado behind it.

The officer sustained minor injuries during the crash.

The female driver and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 22-year-old Escondido man, were not immediately reported as injured.

It is not clear what caused the wheel to detach from the vehicle.

Authorities are continuing to look into the crash at this time.

Hit-and-run collision reported on I-15

OCEANSIDE, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision along I-15 during Tuesday morning’s rush-hour.

According to CHP, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-15 just south of the exit to East Mission Road at about 7:30 a.m.

The driver of a big rig reported a White Ford F-150 struck his vehicle from behind before fleeing the scene of the crash.

Fortunately, the truck driver was uninjured in the crash. Motorists have been advised to proceed with caution while traveling along this portion of I-15 throughout Tuesday afternoon.

Multiple lanes closed following collision on I-15

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities were forced to block at least two lanes along I-15 following a multi-vehicle collision on I-15 Tuesday morning.

According to Caltrans, the accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. within the southbound lanes of I-15 near Duenda Road.

No further information with regard to the cause of the crash or if any injuries were sustained as a result has been made available at this time.

The right two lanes were blocked for about a half-hour following the incident. All lanes have since been reopened.

All lanes blocked following collision on SR-78

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to close all westbound lanes along State Route 78 late Sunday night.

According to Caltrans, the accident occurred shortly before 10:40 a.m. along SR-78 near the exit to Sycamore Avenue.

No injuries were reported as a direct result of the crash at this time. However, all westbound lanes were closed for about four hours reopening at about 2:40 a.m.

Fatal pedestrian accident reported on Oceanside Blvd.

OCEANSIDE, CA -A male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle along Oceanside Boulevard Sunday evening.

According to San Diego County News, the accident occurred within the 2200 block of Oceanside Boulevard shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, police located the 62-year-old man lying in the westbound lanes of traffic with a traumatic head injury. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Details regarding the identity of the driver involved in the crash are being withheld pending further investigation into the crash.

Early-morning semi-truck collision reported along I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a FedEx semi truck early Thursday morning.

According to CHP, the accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the Northbound lanes of I-5 near San Onofre Beach.

Troopers say the truck collided with a guardrail, nearly traveling into the oncoming lanes and causing debris to scatter across the roadway.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. However, the #1 and #2 northbound lanes are expected to be closed for several hours while repairs to the guardrail are made.

Hazmat crews respond to chemical spill following Santee collision

SANTEE, CA – Several vehicles were involved in a collision near the Mission Gorge Shopping Center that resulted in a chemical spill Wednesday afternoon.

According to NBC San Diego, the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. along Cuyamaca Street near the intersection with SR-52.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision. However, a hazardous materials crew was called to the scene to clean up the spilled chemical.

Motorists and commuters on the Metropolitan Transit System faced significant delays while the incident was cleared from the roadway.

Suspected DUI collision reported in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol responded to a suspected drunk driving collision along I-15 Wednesday morning.

According to CHP, troopers responded to reports of a Chevrolet Cruze swerving in and out of lanes along the freeway before colliding with a white Tesla near the exit to Old Highway 95 shortly before 7:30 a.m.

No injuries have been reported as a direct result of the collision at this time. However, this situation is still developing.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to shut down at least two lanes along State Route 15 following a collision early Wednesday morning.

According to Caltrans, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of SR-15 just north of the exit to El Cajon Boulevard shortly before 6 a.m.

Authorities have not released any information with regard to the cause of the crash or if any injuries were sustained as a result. Motorists have been advised to proceed with caution throughout Wednesday morning’s rush-hour traffic.
